Yet, there are some factors that make both of them different from each other. Check out the section below to check a quick comparison between TET and UPTET.

Conducting Body

Central Board of Secondary Education conducts the Central Teacher Eligibility Test exam. This is a national-level teaching entrance examination conducted for appointing primary and upper-primary teachers in government schools. Whereas, Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test is a state-based teaching examination conducted by UPBEB for appointing teachers.

The board conducts the CTET examination twice a year in the months of December and June. Yet, UPTET is conducted only once a year.

Eligibility Criteria

The minimum age limit to write the CTET is 17 years and there are no upper age restrictions. However, as per UPTET eligibility criteria, the candidate has to be within the age limit of 18 to 35 years. The educational qualification is similar to both exams.

For primary level paper, the candidate should have qualified class 12th along with D.EL.ED/B.Ed/B.EL.Ed. Whereas, the same for the upper primary level is completing graduation with D.EL.ED/B.Ed/B.EL.Ed.

Competition Level

As per experts, TET exam is more difficult as compared to the UPTET examination. The primary reason for this is that the former is a national-level examination and lakhs of students attempt it. Whereas the latter is a state-based exam, thus, the level of competition is low as compared to the other exam. The difficulty level of the questions asked in the CTET exam is also high as compared to the Uttar Pradesh Teacher examination.

Future Growth

The future growth of both UPTET and CTET is very high as it makes one eligible to work as a teacher in a government school. However, the only thing that makes the former superior as the certification is applicable to any of the Indian states as the central board is the conducting body. Whereas, the certification for the Uttar Pradesh TET is valid only in the Uttar Pradesh state.
