The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) 2022 is presented by the Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. This portal offers various bursaries to SC / ST / OBC students. Applicants can apply/register online with progressively listed schemes. The National Scholarship Portal is one of the most amazing websites created by the Government of India to provide information to international students about the various types of Scholarships available to the Central Government. There are different types of student prizes available for different types of national bursaries available on the national academic portal. Students who do different kinds of courses can apply for a national bursary available on the portal.

National Scholarships- Central Scheme

Under the ' Central Schemes' section of the NSP, students can receive bursaries offered to departments such as the Department of Small Business, Disability Empowerment, Social Justice and Empowerment, and the Department of Labor and Employment the Department of Labor, Tribal Affairs. Applications for these intermediate programs usually start in July / August and continue until December / January. For the 2020-21 academic year, the deadline for applying for mid-term programs in the NSP was 31 December 2020. However, it has been extended to 31 November 2021.

National Scholarships- State Scheme

The NSP website also lists bursaries offered by various provincial governments under the ‘ State Schemes’ section. These bursaries consist of government-sponsored and state-sponsored bursaries. While state-funded bursaries are provided by the central government and are used by different provinces / UTs, both government-funded programs are provided and implemented by the national government. Significant provinces / UTs holding NSP bursaries include Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Goa, and Himachal Pradesh, Jammu Kashmir, Manipur, Meghalaya, Puducherry, Tripura, Uttarakhand and UP scholarships as well.

National Scholarships- UGC Scheme

In addition to the intermediate programs, the NSP site also registers bursaries offered by the University Grants Commission and the All India Council for Technical Education under the category ‘UGC / AICTE Schemes.’ The primary purpose of these bursaries is to support college education for undergraduate or postgraduate students. Both UGC and AICTE are the official bodies of MHRD (now Department of Education), Government of India. Applications for these courses begin in August and continue until October / November.

Documents Required

The following documents are required to apply for a study program available at the national academic portfolio:

  1. Aadhar Card
  2. Passbook for bank account.
  3. Caste certificate if you are part of a special category.
  4. Income certificate according to your type of bursary.
  5. Mobile number
  6. Passport size image
  7. Last Year's Education Qualification Certificate.
  8. Self-certification certificate.

Application Process

To apply for the National Scholarship Scheme we will need to follow the simple procedure given below: -

  • Step 1: Visit the official website of the NSP (National Scholarship Portal).
  • Step 2: Before you sign up, make sure your center is registered on the portal by clicking on the 'Search Center' button.
  • Step 3: In the unlikely event that your institution is not registered, please ask your institution to register on the portal first.
  • Step 4: Tap the 'New Registration' button.
  • Step 5: Read all the registration guidelines carefully and click on 'Continue' to proceed.
  • Step 6: Fill in all the required fields marked with an ‘*star, then click the ‘Register’ button.
  • Step 7: When the registration is successful, the application ID and password will be delivered to your registered mobile number.
  • Step 8: Sign in using the request ID and password received.
  • Step 9: You will need to verify the OTP sent to your registered mobile number, after which you must change your password at a convenient time.
  • Step 10: After changing the password, the user dashboard will open. Click on 'Application Form' to begin filling out the application.
  • Step 11: Fill in all the details on the application form and upload all the required documents as specified.
  • Step 12: Finally, submit the request by clicking the ‘Final Submit’ button.

Application Status

If you want to assess the application status of the National Scholarship Scheme, you will need to follow the simple procedure provided: -

  • First, go to the official website of the National Scholarship Portal.
  • The homepage will be displayed on your screen.
  • Tap the Login option.
  • A new page will be displayed on your screen.
  • You have to select your year from the drop-down menu.
  • A new page will be displayed on your screen.
  • Enter your ID and password.
  • Click on an option called Send.
  • Application status will be displayed on your screen.

Check Eligibility

If you want to check your eligibility for a study program you need to follow the simple procedure given below: -

  1. First, go to the official website of the National Scholarship Portal.
  2. The homepage will display on your mobile/desktop screen.
  3. Click on an option called Services.
  4. A drop-down list will be displayed on your screen.
  5. Click on an option called Scheme eligibility
  6. A new page will be displayed on your screen.
  7. Include details such as Domicile State / UT, Level of Education, Religion, Divorce / Social Category, Gender, Parental Annual salary, Disability, captcha code and click Send.
  8. Eligibility will be displayed on your screen.
