Sugar formula, for table sugar which is also called as sucrose formula, is discussed in this article. Sucrose is a disaccharide. It consists of 2 monosaccharide molecules viz fructose and glucose. The chemical formula for sucrose is C12H22O11. Each sugar molecule has twelve carbon atoms, eleven oxygen atoms, and twenty-two hydrogen atoms.It's a white solid, odorless and has a sweet taste. This non-reducing disaccharide compound is very soluble in water and methanol. It doesn't dissolve in ethyl ether however is slightly soluble in ethanol. It will be obtained from sugarcane, beta vulgaris, and various other plants. It is used in food as a sweetener.
