What is JAIIB?

Junior Associate of the Indian Institute of the Bankers (JAIIB) is the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance's flagship course (IIBF). The JAIIB Exam aims to give employees the basic information they need to carry out their day-to-day banking activities. Criteria for JAIIB Eligibility

The JAIIB Exam is open to ordinary members of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF). The candidate must have completed the 12th grade or an equivalent exam and employed in any banking or financial institution. 

A clerical or supervisory staff member may appear for the JAIIB Exam at the suggestion of the bank's Manager or officer-in-charge of the bank's office where the candidate is working, even if they have not passed the 10+2 or any other equivalent exam. 

Subordinate workers of recognized banking or financial institutions in India who are also members of the IIBF are eligible to take the JAIIB Exam if they have passed the 10+2 Boards or any similar exam.

Exam Pattern for the JAIIB

The questions in each of the JAIIB required papers will be of the objective kind. Candidates will have 120 minutes to complete each JAIIB paper, consisting of 100 questions. The IIBF has made significant changes to the JAIIB Exam Pattern, and Negative Marking will be used beginning in 2023. Negative Marking @25% of the total marks allocated to the question.

  • After passing the JAIIB exam, bank clerks in Indian banks and officers in Nationalized banks immediately qualify for a 1% annual wage rise.
  • The JAIIB exam is administered twice a year, in May and November. The registration period ends roughly two months before the test (March and September every year). Please check the IIBF website for the most recent information, as these dates are only approximate and are based on historical dates.
  • JAIIB is a crucial exam for banking and finance professionals who want to work in domains like treasury and foreign exchange, among others, which are closely related.
  • Each exam will be given online with 120 multiple-choice questions that must be answered in two hours.
  • A student must receive a 50% score to pass the JAIIB. If the candidate's overall score exceeds 50, they are permitted to receive 45 on a paper (only if the marks are obtained in a single attempt).

JAIIB's criteria for passing

Each JAIIB exam requires a minimum score of 50 out of 100 to pass. To pass the JAIIB Exam, candidates must receive at least 45 in each topic and 50% overall in a single attempt. Until the time restriction for completing the exam expires, candidates can hold onto the credits for the topic they have passed in an attempt.

Exam JAIIB Passing Deadline

Aspirants must pass the JAIIB Exam in 4 consecutive attempts within two years of registering for it. Candidates must re-enrol if they cannot qualify within the 2-year window. The two-year window will start when you register to take the JAIIB Exam for the first time.

Who is eligible to qualify for the JAIIB?

The JAIIB exam is only open to applicants working in the banking and financial sectors. JAIIB eligibility is only met by candidates whose employers are members of the Institute. Candidates interested in applying for the position must have earned a 10+2 diploma in any subject or equivalent.
