The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has issued a firm advisory for NEET PG 2026 candidates who want to shift their category from Indian to NRI, in accordance with the Supreme Court’s ruling in the CODEUNIK case. Candidates must send all required documents together in one email between 1 December 2025 (11:00 AM) and 3 December 2025 (08:00 AM). Any submission made before or after this period will be rejected, and MCC norms must be followed without exception.
This advisory has been released to ensure uniformity with the Supreme Court’s direction under W.P. (C) No. 689/2017 — Consortium of Deemed Universities in Karnataka (CODEUNIK) & Anr. vs. Union of India & Ors., dated 22 August 2017. MCC has made it clear that candidates seeking NRI status must email all documents only to nri.adgmemcc1@gmail.com during the specified window. The entire set of documents must be sent in a single email; multiple or incomplete submissions will not be processed.
Only candidates who submit every document listed by MCC will be considered for a category correction. NEET PG aspirants have been advised to check their paperwork carefully and ensure that every requirement under the Supreme Court’s instructions is met.
Passport (candidate or parent): Valid passport establishing NRI status.
Visa / Work Permit: Proof of residence abroad, clearly showing the period and nature of stay.
Residence proof abroad: Utility bills, rental agreement, bank statements or similar documents confirming continuous residence outside India.
Relationship proof: Documents confirming the candidate’s relationship with the NRI parent (such as birth certificate or passport details).
Income / employment certificate: Evidence that the parent is employed or earning abroad.
Affidavit / Declaration: A sworn statement confirming NRI status and eligibility as per the Supreme Court ruling.
Other documents (if required): Any additional paperwork specified by the MCC in its official instructions.
Candidates must track updates regularly on the MCC website (www.mcc.nic.in) for any revised directions. MCC has warned that failure to follow the timeline or documentation procedure may result in rejection of the NRI claim for the ongoing counselling round.
The official notice on nationality update criteria for NEET PG candidates seeking NRI status can be accessed through the link provided in the MCC notification.
