Good News! Assam Gets approval for 12th Medical College

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, announced on Wednesday that Assam will have 12 medical colleges, with the newest one in Nalbari receiving approval from the National Medical Commission (NMC) to begin offering the MBBS program in the academic year 2023–2024. The state chief minister described the establishment of four new medical colleges in just one year as a "historic feat".
On Twitter, Sarma referred to the progress as a historic achievement for the state and stated in his letter, "The National Medical Commission has recognized Nalbari Medical College with an approval to take 100 MBBS students," and he expressed his cherish in sharing this news.
The Nalbari Medical College, which admits 100 MBBS students annually, will be a part of Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences.
State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta stated that the most recent permission will increase the state's a total number of MBBS seats to 1,500.
Assam has several medical colleges that offer MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) programs. The number of MBBS seats available in Assam varies from year to year and is subject to change based on the decision of the Medical Council of India and the state government.
