Specific heat capacity of water = 4200 J kg-1 K-1

Amount of heat energy required by 10 g (0.01 kg) of water at 00 C to raise its temperature by 500 C = 0.01 × 4200 × 50

= 2100 J

Let Specific latent heat of fusion of ice = L Jg-1

Then,

Q = mL + mc△t

5460 J = 10 × L + 2100 J

L = 3360 / 10

L = 336 J g-1
