. A car 4 m long crosses a 20 m long bridge in 1.6 seconds. At what speed was the car traveling
Best Answer
In order to cross the 20m long bridge, the front bumper of the car had to cover 20m across the bridge and thn go another 4m, till its tail bumper cleared the bridge.
Thus, distance covered = 20 + 4 = 24m,
Time = 1.6 seconds,
speed = ?
s = d/t = 24/1.6 m/s = 15 m/s
15 m/s = 15 x 3600/1000 km/h = 54 km/h
Thus the car was travelling at 54 km/h
