Ans: During sexual reproduction, the reproductive organs of each individual produce specialized cells (germ cells) which have only half the number of chromosomes and half the amount of DNA as compared to the non-reproductive body cells. These germ cells from two individuals combine to form a new individual re-establishing the number of chromosomes and the DNA content in each generation.
