. Parallel evolution is shown by

a. Mycorrhiza

b. Lichen

c. Ophrys

d. Lonicera japonica

Best Answer

c.

The petal of Ophrys resembles a female insect. The male insect woo into the deception and attempts to ‘copulate’ with the flower. It gathers pollen in the process. When it ‘copulates’ with the next flower, the pollen is transferred. This is an excellent example of parallel evolution. The flower should look exactly like the insect and any evolution in one of them will be accompanied by the evolution in the other
