Stomata is known as tiny openings or pores in plant tissues that allow gaseous exchange. They are commonly located in plant leaves or sometimes can also be located in a few stems.

Functions:

a.  Its major characteristic is the exchange of gases through starting and closing the pores in the leaves.

b. It allows in removing water from the leaves.

c. It takes carbon dioxide and gives out oxygen throughout the method of photosynthesis.

d. It helps in regulating water movement by transpiration.
