. What does the odometer of an automobile measure
In an automobile, on the basis of the perimeter of the wheel as the wheel rotates, a device called odometer measures the total distance traveled by it. Most odometers count wheel rotations and presume that the distance traveled is equal to the number of wheel rotations multiplied by the circumference, which is equal to the standard tyre diameter multiplied by π. The odometer just shows us the distance traveled, not the direction of travel.
If tyres have any type of defect such as being severely torn or underinflated, you'll get some odometer mistakes. Also, odometers are frequently off by several percent.
