Ans. Ans. The substance that supplies oxygen in a reaction for oxidation is called an oxidizing agent. Examples of oxidising agents are potassium permanganate, potassium dichromate etc.
i. When propanol is heated with alkaline potassium permanganate solution (or acidified potassium dichromate solution), it gets oxidised to propanoic acid.
