. What is Interaction of Genes

Best Answer

According to Mendel’s principles, usually a single gene controls one character and the allelic forms of a pair are related as dominant and recessive. Various exceptions have been noticed to this fact. In some cases, many genes affect a single character. Sometimes a single gene influences several characters of the individual. Thus, the genes are inherited as unit but interact in some complex fashion to produce the trait. This concept was introduced by Bateson and called interaction of genes or factor hypothesis or factor interaction or modification of F2 ratio. Thus, the modification of the normal phenotype of certain genes by other genes is called interaction of genes
