. What is the Function of Leaves
FUNCTIONS OF LEAVES:
1. Normal functions
i. Manufacture of food, so it is called as the kitchen of the plant.
ii. Interchange of gases.
2. Subsidiary Functions
i. Storage of water and food, e.g., Aloe, Portulaca, onion, lilies, etc.
ii. Vegetative propagation, e.g., Bryophyllum, Bignonia, Kalanchoe, Adiantum (walking fern), etc
iii. Protection by modifying themselves into different forms like spines, scaly leaves, etc.
iv. Climbing by modifying themselves into various forms, i.e, hooks, tendrils, etc
