. Which one of the following conditions will favour maximum formation of the product in the reaction
A2(g) + B2(g) →X2(g),ΔrH = -X kJ ?
(a) Low temperature and high pressure
(b) Low temperature and low pressure
(c) High temperature and high pressure
(d) High temperature and low pressur
Best Answer
Correct Option is (a) :
A2(g) + B2(g) →X2(g),ΔrH = -X kJ
On increasing pressure equilibrium shifts in a direction where pressure decreases i.e. forward direction. On decreasing temperature, equilibrium shifts in exothermic direction i.e., forward direction. So, high pressure and low temperature favours maximum formation of product.
