. Why do HCl, HN03 etc. show acidic character in aqueous solutions while solutions of compounds like alcohol and glucose do not show acidic character

Best Answer

Answer: Acids form hydrogen ions [H+ (aq) ions] in its aqueous solution which are responsible for their acidic characters. HCl and HN03 form hydrogen ions in aqueous solution hence, they show acidic characters in aqueous solution. While solutions of compounds like alcohol and glucose do not form hydrogen ions in the solution, hence, they do not show acidic character
