Defence Research and Development Organisation is the pre-eminent organization under the Department of Defence Research and Development of the Ministry of Defence for the Government of India. It was formed in 1958 when the Technical Development and the Directorate of Technical Development merged with Defence Science Organisation (DSO). It was formed to give a new structure to research and weapon development.

History of DRDO

  • Government of India formed the DRDO in 1958 by combining three organizations:
  • The directorate of Technical Development
  • The Technical Development
  • Defence Science Organization
  • Project Indigo in 1960, was the first project of DRDO which was discontinued without any success.
  • The Sindhu Netra satellite was developed by DRDO and was successfully deployed on February 28, 2021. It was the latest project of DRDO.

DRDO’s MARS

  • The Pune-based R&D Lab of DRDO has made a smart robust robot to handle the land mines and IEDs for the Indian Armed Forces so that it can help them out in hostile situations as well.
  • The machine can operate on its own without anyone’s help and has an in-built program that guides the mechanical system.
  • It creates a 3-dimensional image before it handles them.
  • It can see, understand and picks up any kind of suspicious thing and send them to the designated location.
  • With the help of the new changes, it can also dig out the ground for the IEDs and diffuse them on the spot.

DRDO Recruitment

DRDO Recruitment 2022, has invited applications for the Scientist B position. The application was put on July 6, 2022, and the last date will be July 29, 2022. The basic eligibility of the student is they must be a graduate engineer or a postgraduate from science. DRDO Application Form

You can access the DRDO Recruitment 2022 application form on their official website. There’ll be no application fee for SC/ST/PWD/Female candidates and the application fee for General/OBC candidates will be Rs. 100. You can register in the online mode only. The registration fees should be paid through Debit/Credit card/ Net banking. Students must ensure that they qualify the eligibility criteria before applying for the examination.

DRDO Eligibility Criteria

For Senior Technical Assistant under DRDO

Candidates must have a Science degree or 3-year diploma in Science/Engineering/Technology/Computer Science or any other allied subject which is required from a recognized university or college. The final year student of the degree or diploma can also apply for the DRDO Recruitment 2022.

For Technician ‘A’ under DRDO

  • Candidates must complete a class or equivalent from a recognized board.
  • The students should also possess a certificate from an Industrial Training Institution.
  • If they don’t have a certificate from ITI, they can also get one from a recognized institution/ NTC/ NAC.

Age Limit

The age limit for the candidates to appear for the DRDO is:

  • For the General/EWS Category the maximum age limit would be 28 years
  • For OBC Category the age limit would be 31 years.
  • For SC/ST Category the age limit would be 33 years.

Note: The students who’ve qualified GATE Examination in the year of 2017/2018/2019 will also be eligible to apply for the position.

DRDO Exam Pattern

DRDO Recruitment test will be conducted offline, and will be a Pen& Paper-based test for both of the exams. For every correct answer, the student will be awarded 2 marks and for every wrong answer, 0.5 marks will be deducted. The duration of the exam will be 3 hours. There’ll be two sections in the examination: Section A will contain 100 questions that carry 400 marks, and Section B contains 50 questions that carry 100 marks. The students who cleared both of the examinations will be called for the Personal Interview.
