The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) issued a critical notice on February 16, 2026, directed at the Heads of all affiliated schools. As the Board Examinations for Class X and XII commence today, February 17, 2026, the Board has introduced a streamlined system to handle discrepancies, errors, or issues found in question papers.
To ensure fairness for nearly 46 lakh students, CBSE has clarified that only specific, timely, and correctly routed feedback will be considered for evaluation adjustments.
The Board noted that in previous years, feedback from schools often failed to reach the right desk due to three recurring mistakes:
Incorrect Channels: Schools were sending observations to miscellaneous email IDs instead of the dedicated portal.
Delayed Reporting: Issues were being flagged several days after the exam, making it difficult to implement corrective measures.
Vague Feedback: Observations often lacked detail. A statement like "The question is not correct" is considered insufficient without specifying the exact error (e.g., missing data, incorrect options, or out-of-syllabus content).
To rectify these issues, the Board has mandated a strict protocol that schools must follow to have their concerns addressed:
Mandatory Portal: All observations must be uploaded exclusively on the Online Exam Centre Management System (OECMS).
Same-Day Submission: Feedback must be submitted on the same day that the specific examination is conducted.
Clarification Email: For detailed issues or specific clarifications, schools may use the dedicated email ID: qpobservation@cbseshiksha.in.
The CBSE circular, signed by Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examinations, concludes with a stern warning. No action will be taken by the Board if:
The observations are received late (after the exam day).
The observations are vague or lack clear evidence.
The feedback is not in compliance with the CBSE instructions.
This move is intended to ensure that any genuine errors in question papers are addressed through the proper evaluation and marking scheme updates before the final results are processed.
