In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the board gave Class 10 students a chance to improve their scores in up to three subjects. As per official documents, students who fell in the 'Compartment' category in the 2025 exam cycle could also appear in the Second Board Exam held in May 2026.
This year, a total of 6.68 lakh candidates appeared in the second board exams under both the combined category of improvement and compartment in the two-phase system.
The CBSE Class 10 Board Result 2026 was already released in its initial phase. The overall pass rate for the first phase was 93.70%, marginally higher than the 93.66% achieved the previous year. Girls outperformed boys, with a pass rate of 94.99% compared to 92.69% for boys. A total of 24,83,479 students enrolled for the first round, of which 24,71,777 appeared.
