The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially released the CTET Exam Schedule 2026 for the 21st edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test. In a significant update for millions of teaching aspirants, the board has transitioned the exam from a single-day event to a two-day schedule.
The CTET exam date 2026 is now set for February 7 and February 8, 2026. This strategic shift comes in response to the massive volume of applications received this year, ensuring smoother logistics and a better experience for candidates across the country.
Candidates appearing for the exam must note that both Paper 1 (for Primary Stage) and Paper 2 (for Elementary Stage) will be conducted on both days in two distinct shifts.
| Date of Exam | Paper | Shift | Exam Timings |
| Feb 7, 2026 | Paper-II | Shift 1 | 09:30 AM to 12:00 PM |
| Feb 7, 2026 | Paper-I | Shift 2 | 02:30 PM to 05:00 PM |
| Feb 8, 2026 | Paper-II | Shift 1 | 09:30 AM to 12:00 PM |
| Feb 8, 2026 | Paper-I | Shift 2 | 02:30 PM to 05:00 PM |
Note: The CTET Paper 1 schedule 2026 is fixed for the afternoon slot (Shift 2) on both Saturday and Sunday.
Traditionally, the CTET was held on a single Sunday. However, following the notification released on November 27, 2025, the number of applicants surged significantly. To accommodate the record-breaking turnout and maintain strict examination protocols, CBSE decided to spread the exam over a full weekend.
