JEE Main 2026 Exam Day Documents Required: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to commence the JEE Main 2026 examination from 21 January 2026 for candidates aspiring to secure admission into premier engineering institutions such as IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded technical institutes. With lakhs of students appearing for the exam, NTA has issued strict guidelines regarding reporting time, exam conduct, and documents required at the examination centre. Carrying the correct documents is mandatory for verification and entry into the exam hall. Candidates are advised to read all instructions carefully to avoid last-minute issues on the exam day.
To ensure a smooth verification process, candidates must carry specific documents to the JEE Main 2026 exam centre. These documents help confirm the candidate’s identity and eligibility and are checked before allowing entry into the examination hall. Incomplete or incorrect documentation may result in disqualification from appearing in the exam.
Bringing the correct documents is essential for entry. Candidates must carry the following items:
JEE Main 2026 Admit Card: Printed copy with a self-attested photograph pasted on it
Valid Photo ID Proof: Any government-issued ID such as Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID, or Driving Licence
Passport-sized Photograph: One extra photograph for the attendance sheet
Self-Declaration Form: Duly filled and downloaded from the official NTA website
If a candidate fails to carry any of the mandatory documents, they may not be allowed to enter the examination centre. Missing the admit card or a valid photo ID can lead to immediate disqualification from the exam. Incomplete self-declaration forms or mismatched photographs may also cause delays or rejection. NTA officials at the centre have the final authority, and exceptions are rarely granted. Candidates are strongly advised to double-check their documents a day before the exam to avoid unnecessary stress.
Candidates must report to the exam centre well before the gate closing time mentioned on the admit card. Late entry is not permitted under any circumstances. Biometric verification, frisking, and document checking may take time, so early reporting is recommended. Once the gates are closed, no candidate will be allowed inside the centre.
Electronic devices such as mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, Bluetooth devices, and earphones are strictly prohibited. Items like wallets, handbags, books, notes, and food items are also not allowed. Carrying any banned item may lead to the cancellation of candidature. Candidates should bring only the permitted items listed by NTA.
Candidates must follow all instructions given by invigilators and maintain discipline inside the exam hall. Any form of unfair means or misconduct will result in strict action. Rough work must be done only on the sheets provided at the centre. Candidates should carefully read the instructions displayed on the computer screen before starting the exam.
