As NEET UG 2026 registration and eligibility rules come into focus, a special provision for Tamil Nadu State Board Class 10 students has emerged as a key point of attention. This rule—clearly stated in the official NEET UG 2026 Information Bulletin issued by NTA—addresses a long-standing concern for students who passed Class 10 in 2021 without board examinations due to COVID-19.
This clarification is crucial for thousands of medical aspirants from Tamil Nadu to ensure error-free application submission and eligibility compliance.
During the 2020–21 academic year, the Tamil Nadu State Board did not conduct SSLC (Class 10) examinations because of the COVID-19 outbreak. Instead, all students were declared “Passed” based on a government directive.
Government Order Reference
G.O. (Ms) No. 48
School Education (G.E.) Department
Dated 25 February 2021
Declared all SSLC students of 2020–21 as Passed without awarding marks
As a result:
No numerical marks or CGPA were issued
Mark sheets only display “Pass” with an official disclaimer
This created confusion during national-level entrance exams like NEET, where academic data entry is mandatory.
For candidates who:
Passed Class 10 in 2021
From Tamil Nadu State Board of School Examination (Secondary)
Selecting Passing Year: 2021
Selecting School Board: Tamil Nadu State Board (Secondary)
System-Driven Changes (Automatic):
The Result Mode field will be disabled
Marks / CGPA fields will not appear
Candidates cannot and should not enter marks
This is an intentional system feature, not a technical error.
Without this accommodation:
Students could be forced to enter incorrect or fake marks
Applications could be rejected or flagged
Eligibility issues could arise during counselling or admission
By embedding this rule, NTA ensures fairness and protects Tamil Nadu candidates from being penalized due to pandemic-era academic decisions beyond their control.
