The National Testing Agency (NTA) recently announced the JEE Main 2026 results. However, it was also confirmed that the results for 68 candidates have been withheld. These candidates were found to have engaged in Unfair Means practices during the examination. The NTA had previously clarified in its official information brochure that any involvement in such practices would lead to the cancellation of results. This announcement came as lakhs of students received their JEE Main 2026 scorecards. This decision underlines the NTA's commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process.
The NTA has a clear policy regarding actions taken against candidates who violate examination rules. Several reasons can lead to the cancellation or withholding of JEE Main results.
These reasons include:
Engaging in Unfair Means practices during the examination.
Appearing at an examination center different from the one originally allotted.
Allowing another individual to take the examination on their behalf.
Attempting to appear in the same session more than once.
In such cases, the candidate's application will be cancelled. The individual will also be debarred as per the relevant Unfair Means (UFM) clause. No appeals or pleas regarding these actions will be entertained by the NTA.
Candidates whose JEE Main 2026 results have been declared can access their scorecards by following these simple steps:
Visit Official Websites: Open your web browser and navigate to the official NTA JEE Main website, which is jeemain.nta.nic.in.
Find the Result Link: On the homepage, locate and click on the link titled "Result of JEE (Main)" or "View Scorecard."
Enter Credentials: A login window will appear. Here, you need to input your Application Number and either your Date of Birth or Password.
Enter Security Pin: Type the security code (CAPTCHA) displayed on the screen into the designated field.
Submit: Click the "Submit" button to proceed.
View & Download: Your JEE Main scorecard will then be displayed. It is advisable to download this scorecard and print a copy for your future records and reference.
If your result is withheld, it typically indicates that your candidature is under review for suspected Unfair Means (UFM)or discrepancies in identity verification. While this situation is serious, the NTA follows a standard legal procedure to investigate the matter, and affected candidates are provided an opportunity to present their side before a final decision is made.
Check for Official Communication: Monitor your registered email ID and mobile number for a formal notice from the NTA explaining the specific reason for withholding your result.
Respond to Show-Cause Notices: If you receive a notice, submit a clear and honest explanation (with supporting evidence if applicable) within the stipulated deadline to the NTA expert committee.
Contact the NTA Helpline: Reach out to the official helpdesk at 011-40759000 or 011-69227700 to clarify your status and confirm if any additional documents are required.
Email the NTA Directly: Send a formal query to jeemain@nta.ac.in mentioning your application number, roll number, and a screenshot of the "Result Withheld" message.
Prepare for Committee Review: Understand that your case will be evaluated by an expert committee; avoid panic and wait for the final decision, which could range from result release to debarment for up to 3 years.
Avoid Unofficial Rumors: Do not rely on third-party "agents" claiming to fix the issue; follow only the official protocols outlined in the JEE Main 2026 Information Bulletin.
