UPSC Interview

The UPSC Civil Services Personality Test 2024, also known as the UPSC interview, is the final stage of the selection process for the civil service examination. The Commission has completed the interview process, which was started on January 07, 2025, and the last Date was April 17, 2025.  A total of 2845 candidates are invited for the interview stage, which is a kind of intellectual discussion with a panel of experts. The e-Summon Letters of Personality Tests are now available at 'upsc.gov.in'. UPSC Interview 2024 stage will be worth 275 and play a significant role in determining the final selection of the candidate.

After the UPSC Mains 2024 results, shortlisted candidates are called for an interview process at the official address of the Union Public Service Commission. Candidates about twice the number of vacancies will be selected for this interview stage which is worth 275 marks with no minimum qualifying marks. Candidates must appear for the UPSC Personality Test 2024 to be eligible for final selection.

Important Notice for UPSC Interview 2024

Due to the Delhi Assembly elections on 05 February 2025, the Personality Tests for the Civil Services Examination 2024, which were originally scheduled for that day, will now be held on Saturday, 08 February 2025. accordingly. All candidates are advised to take note of this revised schedule and plan accordingly.

UPSC Interview Process 2024

The marks of the UPSC interview combined with UPSC Mains marks determine the final ranking. The process of the UPSC interview is quite different from the other two stages, as here character and not knowledge are tested by the commission. Here is the UPSC interview process:
  1. DAF II Filling and E-Call Letter Issue: Candidates who have successfully filled out DAF II will receive an E-Call Letter. This digital admit card for UPSC Interviews will indicate the interview date, time, and instructions.
  2. Arrival and Document Verification: Candidates arrive at the UPSC office, the venue of the UPSC interview. After completing security check formalities, they go through document verification to ensure compliance with all requirements.
  3. Seating Arrangement: The candidates are directed to a circular hall, where they are grouped according to panel numbers. Upon arrival, candidates also receive travel reimbursement forms if applicable as mandated in the notification.

Books for UPSC Exams Preparation

  1. Interview Session Commence: There are 4 to 5 panels of experts under a Chairman. Each panel conducts interviews with 5-6 candidates per session which last around 20-30 minutes.
  2. UPSC Interview Conducted: The names of candidates are called out serially, and they move to their respective interview panels after undergoing final security clearance. They are evaluated across various personality traits by experts through an engaging discussion.

UPSC Interview Syllabus 2024

Unlike prelims and mains, the interview stage of UPSC CSE 2024 does not have a defined syllabus. According to the official notification, the UPSC Interview is designed to be a comprehensive assessment of the candidate's personal suitability for public service. UPSC Interview Dress Code 2024

While there is no official UPSC Interview Dress Code , the guidelines of the commission emphasize the significance of the authentic and professional appearance of the candidate. Candidates are encouraged to choose attire that reflects simplicity, cleanliness, and modesty. Opt for well-fitted, formal wear without any stains or wrinkles, showcasing respect for the occasion. Avoid including any of the following on the UPSC interview day:
  • Avoid overly tight or loose clothing on the D’Day.
  • Casual attire like jeans, T-shirts, or sneakers must be avoided.
  • Avoiding strong perfumes or expensive/flashy jewelry.

UPSC Interview Result 2024

The UPSC Interview Result 2024 will be announced shortly after the last candidate’s Personality Test. This result, also known as the final result, will include the names of candidates who have been selected, listed in order of their rank on the UPSC CSE merit list. The result will be published in PDF format on the official UPSC website at upsc.gov.in. This will determine the candidates' allocation to various civil services like IAS, IFS, and IPS, based on their rank.

UPSC Interview Qualifying Marks

The qualifying marks for the UPSC Interview (Personality Test) are not fixed in the form of a specific cutoff for each candidate. Instead, the marks in the Interview are added to the final Mains examination score to determine the candidate's overall ranking. The final selection is based on the combined total of Mains (1750 marks) and Interview (275 marks), making the total score 2,025 marks.  While there is no minimum qualifying mark for the Interview, performance in it can significantly impact a candidate's final ranking.
