UPSC Interview Process 2025

The marks of the UPSC interview combined with UPSC Mains marks determine the final ranking. The process of the UPSC interview is quite different from the other two stages, as here character and not knowledge are tested by the commission. Here is the UPSC interview process:
  1. DAF II Filling and E-Call Letter Issue: Candidates who have successfully filled out DAF II will receive an E-Call Letter. This digital admit card for UPSC Interviews will indicate the interview date, time, and instructions.
  2. Arrival and Document Verification: Candidates arrive at the UPSC office, the venue of the UPSC interview. After completing security check formalities, they go through document verification to ensure compliance with all requirements.
  3. Seating Arrangement: The candidates are directed to a circular hall, where they are grouped according to panel numbers. Upon arrival, candidates also receive travel reimbursement forms if applicable as mandated in the notification.

  1. Interview Session Commence: There are 4 to 5 panels of experts under a Chairman. Each panel conducts interviews with 5-6 candidates per session which last around 20-30 minutes.

UPSC Interview Result 2025

The UPSC Interview Result 2025 will be announced shortly after the last candidate’s Personality Test. This result, also known as the final result, will include the names of candidates who have been selected, listed in order of their rank on the UPSC CSE merit list. The result will be published in PDF format on the official UPSC website at upsc.gov.in. This will determine the candidates' allocation to various civil services like IAS, IFS, and IPS, based on their rank.

UPSC Interview Qualifying Marks

The qualifying marks for the UPSC Interview (Personality Test) are not fixed in the form of a specific cutoff for each candidate. Instead, the marks in the Interview are added to the final Mains examination score to determine the candidate's overall ranking. The final selection is based on the combined total of Mains (1750 marks) and Interview (275 marks), making the total score 2,025 marks.  While there is no minimum qualifying mark for the Interview, performance in it can significantly impact a candidate's final ranking.
