WBJEE Eligibility 2019:- WBJEE Board has defined the eligibility criteria for candidates appearing in West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam. Indian citizens appearing in 10+2 exam in 2019 may sit in WBJEE. But, failing to fulfill the required eligibility, he/ she will not be allowed to participate in the counselling procedure.
The Board has scheduled the exam for May 26, 2019 across 22 cities in India.
 
Age Limit:-The minimum age required by the candidate to be eligibile for WBJEE 2019 is 17 years as on December 31, 2019.
The candidate should have been born on or before December 31, 2002.
There is no upper limit for B.Tech programmes except for Marine Engineering where the upper age limit is 25 years as on December 31, 2019.
Nationality:- The candidate should be a citizen of India
 
Domicile/Residential Requirement :-
Candidate must be a citizen of India to appear for WBJEE. Candidates from any states are eligible. The domicile certificate will be applicable only for admission in government participating institutes and to claim Reservation.
  1. There is no particular residential/domicile requirement to appear in WBJEE 2019.
  2. The state domicile requirement is applicable for any seat under Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW).  
  3. Candidate will be treated as the domicile of West Bengal who is either:
  4. Residing in West Bengal since last 10 years by December 31, 2019.  
  5. Whose parent(s) is/are resident(s) and having a permanent address within the State of West Bengal.

Qualifying Marks for WBJEE 2019:General Academic Qualifications for admission to Engineering/Pharmacy Courses are defined below:

  • For Engineering: Passed class 12 examination with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application as compulsory subjects.
  • For Pharmacy: Passed class 12 examination with Physics and Chemistry along with any one of Mathematics / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application as compulsory subjects.
  • Must have obtained at least 45% marks (40% marks for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/OBC-C/PwD in all the 3 subjects taken together.
  • Passed English in class 10+2 exam with at least 30% marks.
  • The board of the said qualifying exam must be recognized either by Central Government or State Government.

Eligibility and academic qualification

Eligibility criteria for appearing in the WBJEE-2019

a) Citizenship: Applicant must be a citizen of India.

b) Age Restriction:

(i) The lower age limit is 17 (seventeen) years as on 31.12.2019. A candidate should have been born on or before 31.12.2002. There is no upper age limit in appearing in the WBJEE-2019.
(ii) However, for admission to the degree level Marine Engineering Course The lower age limit is 17 (seventeen) years as on 31.12.2019 and the upper age limit is 25 Years as on 31.12.2019.

General Academic Qualifications for admission to Engineering/Pharmacy Courses

For admission to Engineering courses

a) Candidate must have passed the Qualifying Examination i.e. the ‘10+2’ examination with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks (in both theory and practical wherever applicable) in all the three subjects as stated above in regular class mode.

b) Must have obtained at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category e.g. ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) in the above three subjects taken together.
 
c)Must have passed English in the ‘10+2’ examination with at least 30% marks.
 
d) The Board of the said Qualifying Examination must be recognized by the Central Government or State Government concerned.

For admission to Pharmacy courses:-

a) Candidate must have passed ‘10+2’ examination with Physics and Chemistry along with any one of Mathematics / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks (in both theory and practical wherever applicable) in all the three subjects as stated above in regular class mode.

b) Must have obtained at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category e.g. ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) in the above three subjects taken together.
c) Must have passed English in the ‘10+2’ examination with at least 30% marks.
d) The Board of the said Qualifying Examination must be recognized by the Central Government or State Government concerned.

Important consideration in terms of academic qualification:-
A candidate appearing in the Qualifying Examination i.e. the ‘10+2’ Examination in 2019 may sit in the WBJEE-2019 but shall not be eligible for allotment of seat for admission if he/she does not pass the Qualifying Examination with the required minimum eligibility criteria.
 
Important information regarding eligibility:-
WBJEEB do neither verify the information provided by any candidate during on line application nor verify any certificate of date of birth, domicile, income, reservation category, academic qualification etc. for deciding the eligibility of the candidate. Admit cards are issued only on the basis of the information provided by the candidate. Also, normally there is no scope of changing/correcting any information after the last date of online application.
All verifications are done during counselling and subsequent admission and registration with the university. If at any stage after examination it is found on scrutiny that the applicant is otherwise ineligible, his/her candidature shall be treated as cancelled even if he/she secured a Merit Rank in the WBJEE-2019 and/or a seat has been allotted to the candidate.
Hence, securing a Rank in the WBJEE-2019 does not constitute a right/guarantee in favour of a candidate for his/her claim for admission if he/she fails to comply with the specified norms and standards.
 
Special eligibility criteria in terms of academic qualifications for admission to some specific Universities/ University Departments/ Institutions or for admission to some specific courses as per norms and standards of the regularity authorities are given in this section. For all other institutes and courses the criteria are given above in section 3.2 above.

Institute specific special eligibility criteria

  University of Calcutta:

The must pass ‘10+2’ or equivalent examination from any recognised Council/ Board with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology as compulsory subjects with at least 60% (50% for Reserve Category students e.g. ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) marks in science group (excluding vernacular 1st language and other language as second language and EVS) with at least 30% marks in English.

a) All available Courses except Jute & Fibre Technology Pass ‘10+2’ or equivalent Examination from a recognised Council/ Board with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects with at least 60% (55% for Reserve Category students e.g. ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) marks in the above three subjects taken together, individual pass marks (both in theory & practical where ever applicable) in each of the subjects and with at least 30 % marks in English.
 
b) Jute & Fibre Technology The must pass ‘10+2’ or equivalent examination from any recognised Council/ Board with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology as compulsory subjects with at least 60% (50% for Reserve Category students e.g. ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) marks in the above three subjects taken together and with at least 30% marks in English
 
Jadavpur University (Faculty of Engineering & Technology):
 
a) All available courses including Bachelor of Pharmacy and five Year degree course in Architecture Pass ‘10+2’ or equivalent Examination with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects with at least 60% (45% for reserve Category Students e.g. ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) marks in above three subjects taken together. Individual pass marks (both in theory & practical where ever applicable) in each of the above three subjects. Minimum 60% (45% for Reserve Category Students e.g. ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) marks in Mathematics and at least 30 % marks in English.
 
b) Additional  requirement  for  Five  Year  Degree  Course  in Architecture Besides the same academic qualifications as stated above, candidates must qualify either in NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) conducted by the COA (Council of Architecture) or in the Paper-II of JEE-Main, 2018 conducted by the CBSE Board.

West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences B. Tech (Dairy Technology) course:

a) Candidate must have passed the Qualifying Examination i.e. the ‘10+2’ examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks (in both theory and practical wherever applicable) in all the three subjects as stated above in regular Class mode from any recognized Council/ Board.

b) Must have obtained at least 50% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category e.g. ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English taken together.
 
Neotia University:
 
a) B. Tech courses in Computer Sc & Engg and Robotic Engg: Pass ‘10+2’ or equivalent Examination with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/ Computer Sc. as compulsory subjects with at least 60% marks in the above three subjects taken together.
 
b) B. Tech courses in other branches: Pass ‘10+2’ or equivalent Examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with at least 60% marks in the above three subjects taken together.
 
c) B. Tech course in Marine Engineering: Pass ‘10+2’ or equivalent Examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with at least 60% marks in the above three subjects taken together and at least 50% marks in English.
 
Course specific special eligibility criteria:
 
The degree course in Marine Engineering
As per the norms and standards of the Director General of Shipping, Government of India: Candidates must pass Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognized Council/Board in regular class mode with:
a) 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics taken together with individual pass marks (both in theory and practical where ever applicable) in each of the said subjects;
b)Minimum of 50% marks in English as subject in either in ‘10’ standardor in ‘10+2’ standard.
c) These requirements are applicable for the Marine Engineering Course in any of the participating Institution.
 
Reservation of Seats for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PwD (earlier Physically Handicapped) category of students
