What is the Role of IBPS in Bank Recruitment: The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection or IBPS is a government-owned recruitment agency responsible for conducting major banking examinations in the country. Through various examinations conducted by IBPS, candidates are recruited as Probationary Officers (PO), Specialists (SO), Public Sector Bank Officers, and Regional Rural Banks. In India, 11 public sector banks and 43 regional rural banks participate in the IBPS recruitment process. The various exams conducted by IBPS include IBPS PO, IBPS SO, IBPS Clerk and IBPS RRB.

What is the Role of IBPS in Bank Recruitment

IBPS provides its services to all public sector banks like SBI, RBI, NABARD, and IDBI. In addition, regional rural banks, SIDBI, LIC and general insurance companies, cooperative banks, many non-financial public sector enterprises, government ministries, state-owned enterprises, and corporations also use its services. A total of 87.60 lakh candidates appeared for the various IBPS examinations in 2023-24. The details of various IBPS exams are given below.

Role of IBPS in Bank Recruitment

Here we have discussed the various bank recruitments conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) every year.

IBPS PO

For recruitment to the post of Probationary Officer/Management Trainee (PO/MT) in 11 Public Sector Banks in India the IBPS PO Exam is organized. IBPS CRP PO/MT exam comprises the preliminary exam, main exam, and interview. In the previous Financial Year, a total of 6.52 lakh candidates had registered for the IBPS PO exam. Out of which 4.61 lakh candidates had appeared for the exam. The basic IBPS PO salary is Rs 36,000. Besides, candidates get other allowances such as Dearness Allowance(DA), House Rent Allowance(HRA), City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), and Special Allowances. The pay scale is Rs. 23,700-(980 / 7)-30,560-(1145 / 2)-32,850-(1310 / 7)-42,020 (Rs. 980 is the annual increment that add up to the IBPS PO salary and is applicable for seven years).

IBPS Clerk

Annually IBPS Clerk Exam is conducted to recruit candidates for the post of Clerks in Public Sector Banks. The IBPS Clerk selection process includes prelims and mains exams. IBPS Clerk salary is Rs. 28,000 to 30,000 per month. The starting basic salary is Rs. 19, 900 including dearness allowance, house rent allowance, medical allowance, and transport allowance.

IBPS SO

A large number of banking aspirants are selected for the post of Specialist Officers in various public sector banks through IBPS SO Exam. Candidates selected through IBPS SO exam are recruited to the various posts , such as Agriculture Field Officer, Marketing Officer, HR/Personnel Officer, IT Officer, Law Officer, and Rajbhasha Adhikari. The IBPS SO Selection drive consists of three phases-prelims, mains, and personal interview.

IBPS RRB

IBPS conducts the IBPS RRB Recruitment for the aspirants to select candidates for Officers Scale 1, 2 & 3 and Office Assistant (Multipurpose). Recruitment is carried out for various Group A and B posts. Candidates are chosen for officer level positions through a preliminary test, mains/single-level exam, and interview. Candidates are chosen for the Office Assistant (Multipurpose)/Clerk position through a combination of preliminary and main tests. One of the participating RRBs receives the candidates who have been tentatively shortlisted, with the allocation of vacancies determined by merit-cum-preference.
