MPSC Selection Process 2023

MPSC Selection Process 2025: The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) is a government organization which is established by the Indian Constitution under Article 315 for selecting ‘Group A and Group B civil servants for the state of Maharashtra.

The examination of MPSC is conducted to select eligible candidates for different government posts and appoint them on different service matters like disciplinary and transfer, advice on promotion, the establishment of recruitment rules, etc. 

MPSC Selection Process 2025

A candidate needs to have the knowledge about the exam pattern, syllabus and most importantly, the MPSC Selection Process 2025 in order to crack the examination. In this article, we have discussed the selection process under the MPSC Examination, which might help a candidate. As per the latest MPSC calendar, the commission has already released an online application form. The exam will most probably be conducted in the mid of this year.

MPSC Selection Process 2025 Overview

The selection process for the MPSC examination has three different stages, which include:
  1. MPSC Prelims Exam- 2 Papers
  2. MPSC Mains Exam- 9 Papers
  3. MPSC interview.
A candidate needs to clear all 11 papers of Prelims and Mains, including the personal interview round, in order to get selected for the post of Civil servant in the state of Maharashtra.

MPSC Prelims Exam 2025

The Prelims exam of MPSC 2025 will be conducted through 2 different papers. Moreover, the prelims exam acts as a qualifier exam for the 6 papers of the Mains examination. Soon after the prelims, the government authority which conducts the exam releases the answer key for the same. A candidate must obtain a minimum of 33% in the Prelims in order to get selected for the Mains.
  • Both of the papers in the Prelims will contain a maximum of 200 marks
  • A deduction of ¼ marks will be done if a candidate gives a wrong answer to a question. Although, unanswered questions will not have any negative marking.
  • Each paper will have a time duration of 2 Hours, which means a candidate needs to complete his/her paper within this duration of 2 hours only.
  • Only the subjects of General awareness will be included in the prelims.
  • The question paper will be written in English and Marathi Language. Hence, the candidate can answer according to their preference.

MPSC Mains Exam 2025

The candidate who will be selected in the Prelims exam acquiring the minimum cut-off will be eligible for giving the MPSC Mains examination. The exam will have 9 papers, which can be written either in English or Marathi.
  • There will be 9 Papers for the MPSC Mains exam in 2025.
  • For qualifying for the MPSC mains exam, a minimum of 45 Marks and 40 Marks is required for both general and reserved categories respectively.

MPSC Interview 2025

The Personality test is the last stage of the selection process in the MPSC examination. The candidate who will secure the minimum cut-off marks in the MPSC Mains examination will be eligible for this personality test. In this stage, a panel of the members who are unbiased and competent evaluate the candidate based on the communication skills and knowledge. The candidate will be questioned about General knowledge, Current affairs. Along with that, in-depth knowledge of communication skills and mental ability will also be evaluated by the panel. Once the round is cleared and the panel is satisfied, the candidate will be appointed as a Civil servant according to the overall performance.

Tips to Crack MPSC Examination

Few tips that can help a candidate to crack the exam has been discussed below:
  • A candidate needs to complete the examination within the time limit given, hence it is advised to start with the topic you are good at.
  • Maintain a time table and make time for each subject so that you can track your progress.
  • Although, the prelims exam will be objective but the Mains exam will be in subjective form. So, a candidate should prepare for the writing as well.
  • Read magazines and newspapers every day in order to stay updated on current affairs.
  • Studying for long hours at a single sitting is not advisable. Hence, try to study for short sessions taking breaks in between.

Ans. All the candidates appearing for MPSC Examination are obliged to attend the prelims exam as it is a qualifying paper for the Mains examination. To get eligible for the mains Examination, a minimum of 33% is required in Prelims.

Ans. A candidate appearing for MPSC exams should have passed Graduation from a recognized university. Along with that, a candidate should be between 18 to 33 years of age to get eligible for the MPSC exam 2023.
