The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially announced the Class 10th Result 2026 today, April 15, 2026. While the focus is usually on pass percentages and marksheets, this year is different. Following the notification issued on June 25, 2025, CBSE has officially moved to a Two Board Examination system per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
With results now live on the official portal, students must immediately evaluate their performance to see if they qualify for the Second Board Examination scheduled for May 2026.

The second exam is not a "re-test" for everyone; it is a strategic opportunity for improvement. Here is the breakdown of eligibility:
Students who have passed the first exam but want to increase their percentage can reappear.
Limit: You can opt for a maximum of three subjects.
The Benefit: CBSE will apply the "Best of Two" rule. If you score higher in the May exam, that score will be reflected in your final certificate. If you score lower, your original April marks stay.
Students who failed to reach the 33% threshold in one or two subjects are eligible to sit for the second exam to save their academic year.
Students who have failed in three or more subjects are not eligible for the May exam. They will be marked as "Essential Repeat" (ER) and must retake the entire academic year.
Students who did not appear for the first board exam (February/March 2026) cannot "start" their boards with the May session.
CBSE has clarified that the second exam is a continuation of the first, not a fresh start. Note these critical rules:
No Subject Changes: You cannot change your subject choices. If you gave Basic Maths in February, you cannot take Standard Maths in May.
No Data Correction: No changes to your name, parentage, or date of birth will be allowed in the Second Exam's List of Candidates (LOC).
Internal Assessment: Your marks for Practicals, Projects, and Internal Assessments from the first exam are final. You will only retake the theory paper.
School-Led Registration: Individual students cannot apply directly on the portal. All applications for the second exam must be submitted by the school via the LOC (List of Candidates) process.

Q4: When will the final consolidated marksheet be issued? For students appearing in the second exam, a final consolidated marksheet will be issued in June/July 2026, combining the best scores from both sessions.
