The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially announced the CBSE Class 10 Results 2026 today, April 15. While over 25 lakh students are busy downloading their scorecards from cbseresults.nic.in, a familiar question echoes: "Who is the CBSE 2026 Topper?" The answer is simple: There isn't one—officially.

Continuing a tradition that began during the 2020 pandemic and was later formalized as a mental health initiative, CBSE has scrapped the practice of announcing National Toppers. This move is designed to:
Reduce Academic Stress: Eliminating the public "Topper" status prevents unnecessary comparison and anxiety among teenagers.
Discourage Unhealthy Competition: By not awarding 1st, 2nd, or 3rd divisions, the board emphasizes learning over labeling.
Shift to Holistic Evaluation: The focus has moved from being "Number 1" to personal excellence and improvement.
While there is no public leaderboard, excellence isn't ignored. CBSE recognizes academic brilliance through the 0.1% Merit Certificate system.
What is it? A certificate awarded to students who score in the top 0.1% of candidates in a specific subject.
Where to find it? These certificates will be available in the student's DigiLocker account after the Phase 2 (Improvement) exams are concluded in June 2026.

For the first time in this cycle, CBSE is highlighting the two-exam system. If you aren't satisfied with your scores, you don't need a "Toppers List" to validate your worth. The Phase 2 exams are scheduled from May 15 to June 1, 2026, allowing students to improve their performance in up to three subjects.
If you’ve misplaced your admit card, you can still access your results through the APAAR ID or DigiLocker using your school-issued access code.
Q1: Will CBSE release a toppers list for Class 12?
No. The policy applies to both Class 10 and Class 12 to maintain a uniform academic environment across the board.
Q2: How can I calculate my percentage from CGPA in 2026?
CBSE uses a 9-point grading system. To find your approximate percentage, multiply your CGPA by 9.5.
Q3: Is a merit certificate the same as being a topper?
A merit certificate recognizes that you are among the best in a particular subject nationwide, but it does not rank you against others in terms of overall aggregate.
Q4: Can I get my result via SMS or IVRS?
Yes, Delhi-based students can call 24300699, while others can dial 011-24300699 to hear their marks via the Interactive Voice Response System.
Q5: When will the final marksheets be issued?
Provisional marksheets are available online now. Physical marksheets and migration certificates will be sent to schools or uploaded to DigiLocker shortly after the Phase 2 exams.
