If you are appearing for JEE Main 2026, youe critical deadline for your identity authentication has ended. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has closed the window for the photo verification certificate submission yesterday, January 15, 2026. Failure to comply could lead to entry issues at the exam center.
The NTA implemented this additional layer of security to ensure a fair and transparent examination process. During the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 registration (Oct 31 – Nov 27, 2025), certain discrepancies were flagged:
Non-Aadhaar Registration: Candidates who used alternative ID proofs.
Mismatched Photos: Live photos captured during registration did not match the UIDAI (Aadhaar) database.
Security Protocols: Ensuring the integrity of JEE Main and the subsequent JEE Advanced 2026 cycle.
Not every student needs this document. It is mandatory only if:
You did not use Aadhaar for your initial registration.
Your live photo was flagged as a "non-match" during the verification phase.
You received an official email from NTA specifically requesting this document.
In a student-friendly move, the NTA has relaxed the attestation requirements. While school Principals remain an option, you can now get your certificate signed by Class I Gazetted Officers, including:
Tehsildars or Revenue Officers.
Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDM) or District Magistrates (DM).
Class I Gazetted Officers of the Indian Embassy (crucial for NRI candidates).
