The National Testing Agency (NTA) has stepped in to address one of the most confusing aspects of the NEET UG 2026 application process by releasing an official explainer video for medical aspirants. The video provides clear guidance on how candidates should select their exam city preferences and question paper language while filling out the NEET UG online form.
The explainer was shared on February 10 through the official NTA Exams handle on X (formerly Twitter), as thousands of NEET UG 2026 aspirants continue to submit their registration forms. According to the agency, several candidates were making critical errors due to misunderstandings about how address details affect exam centre allocation and medium of examination.
In the video, the NTA has clearly stated that both the exam city options and the language of the NEET UG question paper are auto-linked to the present and permanent address details entered by the candidate in the application form. Any mismatch, incorrect entry, or casual selection can directly impact the allotment of the NEET UG 2026 exam centre and the medium of the question paper.
The agency has warned that once the form is submitted, candidates may not get another chance to rectify such errors—making it crucial to understand this rule before final submission.
The NEET UG 2026 registration window is currently open, and the application process will officially close on March 8 at 9:00 PM. With lakhs of medical students applying for MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other medical courses, NTA has urged aspirants to watch the explainer video carefully before completing the form.
Officials emphasised that following the instructions can help candidates avoid last-minute stress, incorrect centre allocation, and language-related issues on exam day.
This clarification is especially important for:
Students applying from a different state than their permanent residence
Candidates opting for regional language question papers
First-time NEET UG applicants unfamiliar with NTA’s address-based allocation system
As NEET UG 2026 remains the single gateway for undergraduate medical admissions across India, even minor mistakes in the application form can have serious consequences.
Before submitting the NEET UG application form:
Verify present and permanent address details
Double-check exam city preferences
Ensure the question paper language aligns with address-based eligibility
Watch the official NTA explainer video to avoid errors
With the deadline fast approaching, candidates are advised not to rush the process and to rely only on official NTA guidance.
