NEET UG Re-Exam 2026: Full Dress Code, Permitted & Banned Items — Everything Candidates Must Know Before June 21

New Delhi: With the NEET UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21 (Sunday), the National Testing Agency (NTA) has rolled out a fresh, detailed advisory covering dress code, permitted items, and security protocol at all exam centres. The re-test follows the cancellation of the original May 3, 2026 exam after a question paper leak triggered nationwide scrutiny.

The re-exam will run for 195 minutes from 2 PM to 5:15 PM across 566 cities in India and abroad, with admit cards released on June 14, 2026 — and crucially, previously issued hall tickets from the May 3 exam will not be valid, so every candidate must download the fresh re-exam admit card.

For aspirants preparing to head to centres this Sunday, here's the complete, verified checklist of what to wear, what to carry, and what to strictly leave at home.

What's Allowed at NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam Centres

1. Transparent Water Bottles & Admit Card Pouches Transparent water bottles and plastic pouches are allowed, while electronic devices and metal accessories are banned. With the exam falling in the monsoon season, NTA has specifically cleared transparent pouches so candidates can protect their admit cards from rain damage during transit.

2. Religious Attire and Articles of Faith This year's advisory carries one of the most candidate-friendly clarifications: candidates may wear articles or objects of faith, including religious symbols, kalawas, turbans, hijabs and similar items. However, such candidates have been advised to reach their examination centres well in advance so that adequate time is available for detailed frisking procedures. NTA has stated these provisions exist to balance religious practice with strict security protocol.

3. Full-Sleeve and Woollen Clothing Light, half-sleeve clothing remains the recommended choice, but candidates who need full-sleeve or woollen garments are permitted to wear them — provided they budget extra time for screening at the gate before the reporting deadline.

4. Footwear: Slippers and Low Heels Preferred Open sandals or slippers with low heels are advised over shoes or boots. Candidates turning up in high-heeled or thick-soled footwear should expect additional checks at entry, which can eat into reporting-time buffers.

What's Strictly Banned: NEET 2026 Prohibited Items List

No electronic device of any kind is permitted inside the hall. Carrying any of the following can lead to disqualification:

  • Mobile phones

  • Smartwatches and fitness bands

  • Bluetooth devices

  • Earphones/headphones

  • Calculators

  • Any communication gadget

Jewellery and metallic items are also barred, including heavy jewellery, metallic ornaments, large belt buckles, and accessories with metal components. Candidates are advised to skip unnecessary accessories entirely to avoid frisking delays.

Reporting Time and Frisking: Don't Cut It Close

All candidates undergo mandatory frisking before entry. NTA has specifically flagged three categories that need to arrive earlier than the standard reporting window:

  1. Candidates wearing religious articles (hijab, turban, kalawa, etc.)

  2. Candidates in full-sleeve or woollen clothing

  3. Candidates in high heels or heavy footwear

At the Riyadh international centre, for instance, candidates have been advised to arrive before 10:30 AM to complete document verification and frisking, with entry closed after 11 AM — a pattern likely mirrored at domestic centres with early reporting cut-offs strictly enforced.

Documents to Carry

  • Original NEET UG 2026 admit card (freshly downloaded, not the May 3 ticket)

  • Valid photo ID proof

  • Passport-size photographs as specified on the admit card

  • Postcard-size colour photograph affixed where required
