What If Biometric Verification Fails? NTA Answers Key RE-NEET UG 2026 Exam Day Question Ahead of June 21

With the RE-NEET UG 2026 exam scheduled for June 21, the National Testing Agency has issued a detailed advisory directing candidates on what to expect at the examination centre. The guidelines touch on four major areas: biometric verification, dress code and religious attire, the list of permissible and prohibited items, and security checks at the gate. NTA has asked all candidates to go through these NEET 2026 exam day guidelines carefully before stepping out for the exam, since non-compliance at the centre can cause last-minute delays or denial of entry.

RE-NEET 2026: Biometric Verification Mandatory Before Entry

NTA has made it clear that biometric verification is compulsory and will take place after the standard security check, before candidates are allowed into the exam hall. The verification process includes:

  • Fingerprint verification

  • Facial recognition verification

  • Identity authentication (matched against admit card and ID proof)

This three-step check is designed to prevent impersonation and identity fraud during the exam — an area NTA has tightened scrutiny on in recent exam cycles.

What If Biometric Verification Fails?

This is the question on every RE-NEET UG 2026 candidate's mind, and NTA has addressed it directly in the advisory. Candidates will still be allowed to appear for the exam even if biometric verification fails, but only when the failure is due to one of these specific, NTA-recognised reasons:

  1. Device hardware failure at the centre

  2. Poor biometric quality (e.g., faint fingerprints)

  3. UIDAI server connectivity issues

  4. Physical inability to provide biometric data

If verification fails for any of these reasons, exam centre staff are expected to follow an alternate identity-verification process so genuine candidates aren't denied entry. Candidates facing repeated biometric issues should immediately flag it to the centre superintendent and request it be documented, rather than leaving without raising the issue.

NTA Announces Change in RE-NEET 2026 Exam Centre in Prayagraj

In a separate notification, NTA confirmed that one examination centre has been changed ahead of the June 21 exam. Candidates originally allotted the Harivansh Rai Bachchan Cultural Centre, University of Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh will now appear at the Department of Medieval and Modern History, Senate House Campus, University of Allahabad, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh instead.

Affected candidates are advised to check their updated centre details and carry the revised address on exam day to avoid confusion. The official notice can be downloaded here: NTA RE-NEET Exam Centre Change Notice (PDF).

NEET UG 2026 Dress Code and Religious Attire Guidelines

Alongside biometric checks, NTA has also issued fresh instructions on clothing, footwear, and religious attire for the RE-NEET 2026 exam. Candidates are advised to dress simply, avoid heavy or layered outfits, and wear footwear that allows for quick security screening. Those required to wear religious attire should be prepared for an additional physical check, as has been standard NTA protocol in earlier NEET cycles, and should plan to reach the centre well ahead of reporting time to accommodate this.

List of Banned Items at NEET UG 2026 Exam Centre

NTA has reiterated the list of items strictly prohibited inside the RE-NEET 2026 exam hall. Candidates carrying any of the following will not be allowed entry:

  • Mobile phones

  • Smartwatches

  • Bluetooth devices

  • Earphones and communication gadgets

  • Metallic accessories

  • Heavy jewellery

Candidates are strongly advised to leave these items at home rather than at the centre, since most exam venues do not provide secure storage facilities.

NEET UG 2026 Latest Update: NTA Launches Verified WhatsApp Alerts for Candidates

In a major update for candidate safety, NTA has launched an official WhatsApp channel for NEET UG 2026, marked with a blue verification tick, through which all authentic exam-related updates will now be circulated.

NTA has explicitly warned candidates and parents to be cautious of:

  • Fake exam-related messages

  • False paper leak claims

  • Fraudulent answer key scams

  • Any unverified NEET update circulating on social media

Candidates are advised to rely only on the official NTA website (nta.ac.in) and the new verified WhatsApp channel for RE-NEET UG 2026 updates, and to ignore messages from unverified numbers or pages claiming to have "leaked" content.
