How to Apply for SSC CHSL 2026

Many candidates get confused about the SSC CHSL One Time Registration 2026 process, especially when they already have an OTR from the old SSC website. Since the old OTR is not functional on the new SSC website, candidates need to understand whether they must register again, what documents are required, and how Aadhaar authentication works.

To apply for SSC CHSL 2026, candidates must first complete OTR on the new SSC website or through the my SSC mobile application. Here we explain the SSC CHSL OTR 2026 process, including the need for fresh registration, Aadhaar-based authentication, required documents, validity, and the steps to complete OTR before submitting the application.

Latest Update on SSC CHSL Exam

The SSC CHSL 2026 registration process is currently open from 7 September to 7 October 2026. Candidates can pay the application fee by 8 October, while the correction window will remain open from 14 to 16 October 2026. The Tier 1 and Tier 2 exam dates have not been announced yet by SSC.

What is SSC CHSL OTR 2026?

One-Time Registration (OTR) is the first mandatory step before a candidate can fill the SSC CHSL 2026 application form. As per the official notice, applications must be submitted only in online mode at the new website of SSC Headquarters, i.e., https://ssc.gov.in, or through the my SSC mobile application (available on the Google Play Store).

The process of filling the online application consists of two parts:

  1. One-Time Registration (OTR)

  2. Filling the online Application for the Examination

Once a candidate completes OTR, they can proceed to fill the application for SSC CHSL or any other examination on the new website.

Why You Need to Create OTR Again on the New SSC Website

This is one of the most important points for candidates to understand about SSC OTR new website. As per the official notice, all candidates who wish to apply and have not generated their OTR on the new website (https://ssc.gov.in) will be required to do so, because:

The earlier OTR generated on the old website (https://ssc.nic.in) will not be functional on the new website.

So even if you had registered on SSC's old portal for a previous exam, you must create a fresh OTR on the new website before applying for SSC CHSL 2026. Detailed instructions for OTR are given in Annexure-III of the official notice.

SSC OTR Registration Process: Aadhaar-Based Authentication

As per the official notice, the Commission has implemented Aadhaar Based Biometric Authentication for this examination. While completing OTR, candidates have the option to authenticate themselves using Aadhaar.

Candidates are specifically advised to opt for Aadhaar Based Authentication, since it comes with clear benefits mentioned in the notice:

  • Applications of candidates who opt for Aadhaar Authentication will not be rejected on the ground that the photograph and/or signature uploaded are not as per prescribed standards.

  • Such candidates will not be required to produce recent colour photographs or original valid Photo-Identity proof for admission to the examination venue at the time of the Computer Based Examination.

Note for Visually Handicapped (VH) Candidates

The official notice provides a specific relaxation for VH candidates during OTR: the requirement of Aadhaar Face Authentication at the stage of submitting the online application form stands exempted for them, keeping in view the practical difficulties they may face in facial recognition through electronic devices. Instead, VH candidates can complete Aadhaar-based verification using alternate modes such as Aadhaar OTP authentication. However, all VH candidates will still be subject to biometric verification at the time of appearing in the examination.

Documents Required for SSC OTR Registration (Without Aadhaar Authentication)

If a candidate does not want to authenticate through Aadhaar Based Biometric Authentication, the official notice specifies that the following documents must be uploaded to complete OTR:

Requirement

Accepted Documents

Proof of Name

Aadhaar Card, Voter ID Card, PAN Card, Driving License, Government ID Card, Government Service Identity Card, Pension Document

Proof of Date of Birth

Birth Certificate, School Leaving Certificate, Certificate of Date of Birth issued by a Gazetted Officer, Aadhaar Card

Proof of Gender

Aadhaar Card, Voter ID Card, Birth Certificate, School Leaving Certificate

SSC CHSL OTR Validity

As per the official notice, once an OTR has been generated on the new website, it will continue to remain valid for all the examinations to be applied for on the new website. This means candidates only need to complete this SSC OTR registration process once and can use the same OTR to apply for SSC CHSL as well as other SSC examinations conducted through https://ssc.gov.in going forward.

Steps to Complete SSC CHSL OTR Process

Based on the official notice, here is the general sequence for the SSC CHSL OTR process:

  1. Visit the new SSC website at https://ssc.gov.in or open the My SSC mobile application.

  2. Check if you already have an OTR on the new website: If your existing OTR is from the old website (ssc.nic.in), it will not work; you must register afresh.

  3. Choose your authentication method: opt for Aadhaar Based Authentication (recommended, as per the notice) or proceed without it.

  4. If opting for Aadhaar Authentication: complete the Aadhaar-based verification process as per the Aadhaar Policy published on the Commission's website.

  5. If not opting for Aadhaar Authentication: upload the required documents for Proof of Name, Date of Birth, Address, Photograph, and Gender, as listed above.
