Please note that students under 18 years old must provide parental consent to appear in the test. However, students should have a valid passport to take the test.

How to register for IELTS? IELTS registration can be done through multiple modes: Online Registration, In-Person Registration, and By Mail.

• Select: 'Register for IELTS' to create an IDP IELTS login.

• Select one preferred test – computer-delivered / paper-based IELTS exam.

IELTS In-Person Registration

Students can register at an IELTS test center near their location. Follow the instructions for in-person registration:

• Visit the IDP IELTS office to fill out the application form

• Sign the Terms & Conditions document provided with the application form

• Provide the required documents

• Pay the IELTS registration fee through available payment options

• Submit your IELTS application form

IELTS Registration By Mail

Some centers may allow registration by mail. Students can send their filled-out application form to the test center with the payment attaching the necessary documents.

IELTS Exam Fees 2025

IELTS test fees are announced and updated by IDP on its official website. In 2025, the IELTS exam fees have increased by the IDP to INR 18250. Here are the latest IELTS test fees 2025:

Students can pay their IELTS exam fees through multiple payment methods: Online payment, Bank deposit, and Demand draft. In case of test cancellation, students can get their refunds as per the IDP guidelines. 

IELTS Exam Dates 2025

The test dates for the IELTS 2025 exam are available throughout the year. The IELTS paper-based test is conducted up to 4 days a month and 48 days a year in various locations. Whereas, IELTS computer-based tests are conducted every day of the week and up to 3 times a day. Candidates can check IELTS Exam Dates 2025 for both test modes. The IELTS test slot can be booked up to 24 hours before the test, however, students are advised to book their test slot at least 2-3 months before the actual test date to choose IELTS test centre near their location.

IELTS Exam Pattern 2025

IELTS is an English language proficiency test conducted for candidates who wish to study or immigrate to foreign countries. The test is of two types: IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. 

IELTS Academic: This test is conducted by the IDP for students who wish to study higher education in English-speaking countries. 

IELTS General Training: General training is mainly conducted for work experience, training programmes, or immigration to English-speaking countries.

IELTS test duration for both the tests is 2 hours 45 minutes. Both tests feature four parts: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.

IELTS Result 2025

IELTS test results are announced by the IDP within 3-5 days after the commencement of the computer-based test. Whereas, for the pen-paper-based test, test results are released after 13 days of the test. IDP also releases the IELTS TRF (Test report form) on its official website. Students can send up to 5 TRFs free of cost to various universities. Whereas, for more copies, INR 250 is charged for each copy. 

IELTS Band Score

The IELTS exam is scored on a 0-9 scale. Each section is scored individually and the total score is the average of all the IELTS four sections: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking.
