E-Medhabruti is a scholarship scheme by the Higher Education Department, Government of Odisha, to provide financial assistance to meritorious students of Odisha. Under this scheme, students whose family income does not exceed Rs 6,00,000 get a financial assistance of Rs 20,000. E-Medhabruti is for Odisha residents only. 

 This scheme helps meritorious students to focus on their studies without undue stress. Students can apply for the E-Medhabruti scholarship only in the year of joining their academic program, i.e, 1st year of the course. Approximately 14,500 scholarships are distributed under this scheme.

• Moreover, applications for admission are accepted only during the year when the student is enrolling in the first year of the course.

Courses Applicable for E-Medhabruti Scholarship

The following courses are eligible for the E-Medhabruti scholarship: 

1. U.G Merit

• For pursuing a +3 Degree Course (B.A./ B.Sc./B.Com.) 
• Courses such as BBA/BCA/BJMC, etc. have a duration of 3 years.

2. P.G.Merit

• Courses in Arts / Commerce / Science/ other Post Graduate courses that are non-professional in nature
• Admission to such P.G. courses requires a Degree in Arts / Science / Commerce.

3. Technical & Professional Merit

• Only Undergraduate Professional degree courses and integrated courses mentioned in the guidelines are eligible under this head. 
• The list includes B.E./B.Tech/ MBBSI BDS/ BCA/ BHMS/ BAMS/ B.Pharm./ B.Sc. (Nursing)/ B.Sc. (Agriculture) etc., which are duly recognised by the respective Government Regulatory Bodies such as All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Medical Council of India (MCI), Dental Council of India (DCI), Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), Central Council of Homoeopathy (CCH) /Indian Nursing Council (INC), University Grants Commission (UGC), etc.

E-Medhabruti Eligibility Criteria Based on Scholarship Type

E-Medhabruti eligibility criteria vary by scholarship type, with each category outlining specific academic scores, income limits, and required documents. 

The Medhabruti scholarship guidelines are as follows: 

1. Scholarship Type: U.G. Merit

• Must have passed +2 of CHSE, Odisha / Class XII or equivalent exam with 60% or more marks from an institution recognised by CBSE/ICSE, and 
• Pursuing a regular Degree Course / +3 course in any of the recognised Colleges / Institutions / Universities.

2. Scholarship Type: P.G. Merit

• Must have passed a +3 Degree or equivalent exam with 60% or more marks from a recognised Institute, and
• Pursuing a regular course in one of the disciplines (where scholarship is offered) in any of the recognised Colleges / Institutions / Universities.

3. Scholarship Type: Technical & Professional Merit

• Must have passed +2 of CHSE / CBSE / ICSE/ Equivalent exam or +3 Degree / equivalent 2/3 year course (only for MBAJMCNMFC/MSW) with 60% or more marks, and 
• Pursuing regular Technical & Professional Courses in the Colleges / Institutions recognised by the respective regulatory authorities.

Exclusions from E-Medhabruti Scholarship

Candidates abiding by the following criteria are not eligible for the E-Medhabruti Scholarship: 

• Those studying via open universities, distance learning, or correspondence courses.
• Students already getting scholarships for higher studies from any state or central government program.
• Anyone enrolled in diploma-level technical or professional courses.
• Students in M.Phil., PhD, B.Ed., or M.Ed. programs (not eligible for UG, PG, or technical/professional merit scholarships).
• Those attending colleges, institutes, or universities not approved by bodies like AICTE.
• Students pursuing education abroad.
• People who've completed one technical/professional course and now want to do another.
• First-year students whose enrollment hasn't been verified by their principal or institution

E-Medhabruti Registration

• Visit the official website of the State Scholarship Portal, Government of Odisha. 
• Click on the “Registration” link.
• Select the Checkbox and click "I Agree" after carefully reading the instructions and declaration. 
• Enter your Aadhaar Number, Mobile Number. 
• Fill in your mandatory fields such as Name, Gender, Date of Birth, and Email ID. 
• After completing all mandatory fields, click on the “Register” button. 
• You will be successfully registered on the portal. Your login details will be displayed on the confirmation page.

• Click on the "Student Login" link. 
• Enter your Email ID / Mobile Number to log in. 
• To check your eligibility for the scheme, click on the "View Eligibility".
• Upload required documents as per the prescribed file type and filesize.
• Submit the form once completed. 
• Take two printed hard copies of the online application along with relevant documents, and submit the same to the Principal/ Head of the Institution for further processing.

• If marks are tied and some students miss out due to quota limits, preference goes to those from families with lower annual income.
• For CBSE/ICSE students with CGPA grades, convert to percentage using: Percentage = CGPA × 9.5.
