The ACCA qualification is set to change in 2027, and students may be unsure how their completed papers will count under the revised structure. Understanding the ACCA 2027 Transition Policy can help you identify changes to exam papers, mandatory modules and credit mapping.
The ACCA Transition Tool helps students check how their existing passes may transfer and which requirements remain. Reviewing your mapped results and planning upcoming exams early can help you prepare for the transition with greater clarity.
The ACCA Transition Policy 2027 explains how students move from the current qualification to the revised one. The ACCA September 2027 changes are the first big step.
The three levels stay, but some papers move, and new modules are added. The ACCA 2027 syllabus changes also add more data analytics, investment knowledge and sustainability reporting. Knowledge-level papers (BT, FA and MA) are described as moving to the new syllabus slightly earlier, after the mid-2027 sessions. Other papers have September 2027 as their first new-syllabus attempt. Confirm all dates on ACCAβs official website.
Each level changes in a different way. Here is the level-by-level picture.
Knowledge level: BT, MA and FA stay, and Law moves here from the Skills level. A new mandatory self-based module, Responsible Business Management, is added.
Expertise level: The Skills level is renamed. These ACCA Skills Level Changes cut six papers to five: Taxation, Financial Reporting, Audit and Assurance, Financial Management and Performance Management. A mandatory Professional Skills and Ethics module is added. Finance covers more investment topics, and Performance Management covers more data analysis. The current papers are listed under ACCA Applied Skills exams.
Strategic Professional level: SBR and SBL stay. You choose one optional paper from five, not two from four. A mandatory Ethical and Sustainable Leadership module is added.
Credit mapping matches your old passes with the new requirements. ACCA says it will do this automatically, so you need no separate registration. No progress is lost, and there is no transition fee. Normal exam and module fees still apply to anything you still need to sit.
The table below shows the expected treatment of common passes. Treat it as an example, because your own result depends on the official rules and your record.

The new Digital Technology and Innovation component may have no old equivalent, so it may carry no credit. Your tool result will show whether it applies to you. These ACCA Exemptions 2027 are expected, not guaranteed.
The ACCA Transition Tool shows how your passes map and what remains. This ACCA Transition Tool Guide follows the usual flow, but screens may change, so follow what the official page shows.
Search for βACCA Transition Toolβ and open the result from ACCAβs official website.
Select that you are a student and continue.
Choose whether you are registered with ACCA or FIA.
Select the papers you have passed or expect to pass.
Say whether you have completed EPSM.
Read the credits, exemptions and remaining requirements.
Change your answers to test different plans.
For example, a student with BT, FA and MA passed sees three of the 14 requirements cleared.
EPSM will split into two new modules. If you complete it before the change, you are expected to receive credit for Ethical and Sustainable Leadership. The new module may take around 60 hours, while the current one is much shorter. That figure is only an estimate.
Take a student with Knowledge exemptions plus Taxation, FR and FM passed. Without EPSM, seven requirements may remain. With EPSM, the Ethical and Sustainable Leadership module is cleared as well. A student who finishes the whole Skills level by the June 2027 session, along with EPSM, may even receive credit for the Professional Skills and Ethics module. That could leave only SBR, SBL and one optional paper. Even one Skills paper left over means that module must be sat.
Good ACCA Exam Planning 2027 starts with your own tool result. Look at the ACCA exam information to match papers with sessions.
If only one or two Skills papers remain, try to finish them in the December, March or June sessions.
Complete EPSM before the change if you can.
Compare scenarios in the tool before booking papers.
Keep studying. Waiting for the change only wastes time, and older papers may be easier.
