The BHEL Selection Process 2025 consists of two stages to evaluate candidates' performance and suitability for the role. Qualifying for each stage is crucial for aspirants to get the final appointment. Individuals failing to qualify for these stages will not be entertained for further stages. Candidates are shortlisted for Interviews in order of merit in a ratio of 1:5 to the number of vacancies in each discipline and Category.

BHEL Limited will select the desirable candidates for the role of Engineer Trainee based on two stages to ensure a fair evaluation process. In order to get the final selection, candidates are required to obtain the requisite score in each stage. A comprehensive selection procedure is discussed below for your better understanding:

Stage I: Computer Based Examination

The Computer Based Examination consists of four sections with a specific weightage of marks: Technical Subjects (120 marks), Reasoning (50 marks), General Knowledge (20 marks) and General English (50 marks). For each correct answer, candidates will be awarded one mark and there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. The exam will be completed in a duration of 150 minutes. 

The written exam aims to assess the knowledge of candidates in core specializations as well as logical ability, language proficiency and general knowledge. Based on the performance of candidates in the written exam, they will be shortlisted for Interview in the ratio of 1:5 to the number of seats. However, relaxation is admissible for reserved categories as per the government norms.

Stage II: Interview

Those who clear the Computer Based Examination will be shortlisted for an Interview in the ratio of 1:5 to the number of available seats. The interview aims to assess the personality of candidates, communication skills and professional knowledge to ensure their suitability for the post. The Interview stage contributes a weightage of 25% marks in preparation for the final merit list.

Stage III: Document Verification

Successful candidates in both stages will be called for the document verification phase. In this stage, candidates need to provide the original documents in support of their identity and eligibility requirements. The document required for this stage is as follows:

  • Educational Certificates - B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent degree Certificate, Mark Sheets (all semesters), and other educational documents.
  • Identity Proof - Government-issued ID Proof i.e. Aadhaar card, PAN card, Driving License, or any other documents.
  • Caste Certificate - Required if candidates belong to SC, ST, OBC, or EWS categories.
  • Ex-servicemen Certificate - If applicable
  • Disability Certificate -  If applicable
  • Experience Certificate - Candidates need to submit the experience certificate if they possess work experience in the relevant field.

Stage IV: Medical Examination

Selected candidates will undergo medical examinations to assess their physical fitness and health conditions to ensure they are capable of performing the responsibilities associated with the role. Candidates who meet the medical standards of the organization will be appointed for the role of Engineer Trainee.
