How Shubham Verma Secured His Dream Government Job

Success in competitive exams rarely comes overnight, and Shubham Kumar Verma's journey proves exactly that. A B.Tech graduate from Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, Shubham initially dreamed of pursuing opportunities abroad.

However, financial limitations changed his plans and pushed him toward government exam preparation. The road was far from easy. He faced multiple failures, watched friends get selected before him, and experienced moments when he questioned whether his efforts would ever pay off.

Yet, instead of quitting, he chose to improve his preparation strategy. His eventual selection in the CPWD through SSC JE became the reward for years of persistence, disciplined revision, and continuous learning.

How Shubham Chose a New Direction Instead of Giving Up

Shubham's preparation journey did not begin with government exams. After graduating in 2020, he explored other career options before realising that government jobs offered better chances.

"23 mein maine pehli baar scholarship ke liye apply kiya... financial condition itni achhi nahi thi. Scholarship nahi mili. Phir trading ka socha, lekin laga ki usse zyada chances government job mein rahenge."

Unable to pursue higher studies because of financial limitations, he shifted his focus towards engineering recruitment examinations. To create a disciplined study environment, he moved away from home with a friend and dedicated himself entirely to preparation.

Early Failures Became Learning Opportunities

One of Shubham's first achievements was qualifying the RRB JE CBT-1 examination. However, he narrowly missed selection in CBT-2. Instead of treating it as the end of his journey, he analysed what went wrong. He realised that solving only previous-year questions was not enough to clear competitive examinations.

This experience taught him an important lesson: success requires conceptual understanding, complete syllabus coverage, and continuous practiceβ€”not shortcuts.

Overcoming Failure, Social Pressure, and Self-Doubt

The toughest phase of Shubham's journey came after repeated unsuccessful attempts. While many of his friends secured jobs, he continued preparing without seeing immediate results. The emotional pressure often felt heavier than the academic challenges.

"Mere saare friends nikal rahe the aur mujhe laga ki ab main barbaad hoon... maine time bhi bahut waste kiya hai."

Another difficult part of preparation was dealing with society's expectations. He avoided social gatherings because almost everyone asked the same questionβ€”what he was doing and why he had not yet secured a job.

"Main kisi ka phone pick hi nahi karta tha... log sirf result dekhte hain, mehnat nahi."

Instead of allowing these setbacks to end his journey, Shubham accepted that failures were exposing weaknesses in his preparation. Rather than blaming circumstances, he decided to rebuild his strategy from scratch. This shift in mindset became the turning point of his preparation.

How Physics Wallah Helped Shubham Improve His Preparation

After evaluating his earlier attempts, Shubham completely redesigned his preparation strategy. Rather than relying only on marathon revision sessions and previous-year questions, he focused on understanding every topic in the syllabus, preparing concise notes, and revising regularly.

As he explained,

"Sirf marathon aur PYQ se nahi hoga. Pura syllabus go through karna padega."

He also credited Physics Wallah faculty for strengthening his non-technical preparation, especially reasoning.

"CBT 1 mein Kushal Sir aur Mumtaz Ma'am ka bahut bada haath hai.

Maine sirf inhi dono ko follow kiya. Unki guidance ki wajah se Reasoning mein mere around 24–25 marks aaye, aur main us score se bahut khush tha, kyunki maine itne marks ki bhi ummeed nahi ki thi.

Is success ka poora credit main Kushal Sir aur Mumtaz Ma'am ko dena chahunga."

His Mock Test Strategy That Improved Performance

To strengthen his revision, Shubham built an effective revision system. During mock tests, he noted confusing concepts and frequently repeated mistakes on small revision chits so they could be revised quickly before the exam.

"Main mock ko chits mein bana leta tha... ek nazar mein poora mock revise ho jata tha."

Mock tests became a regular part of his preparation.  Initially, he attempted around three mocks every day, but during the final stage of preparation, he increased that number significantly.

"Mera kaam tha din mein teen mock dene hain aur end aate-aate ek din mein aath mock bhi de deta tha."

He also believed that analysing each mock was more important than simply attempting it. According to him, students should understand not only the correct answer but also why the remaining options are incorrect. According to Shubham, analysing every mock helped him identify mistakes and revise those topics before the exam.

Shubham Verma's Journey: A Lesson in Persistence

Shubham Kumar Verma's journey reminds aspirants that competitive exams are not only a test of knowledge but also of patience, discipline, and resilience. Financial struggles, repeated failures, and social pressure could not stop him because he kept improving his preparation with every attempt.

His success in securing a CPWD position through SSC JE shows that consistent revision, smart mock-test analysis, complete syllabus coverage, and the right guidance can make a real difference. For every student preparing today, his story is a reminder that setbacks are temporary, but consistent effort can eventually lead to success.
