Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has announced the Junior Executive (JE) Recruitment 2026 along with a revised examination structure. The selection process is designed to evaluate candidates not only on technical knowledge but also on aptitude, communication skills, teamwork, and physical fitness required for specific roles.
The recruitment process for posts such as Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Quality Control, HR, and Fire & Safety will be conducted in multiple stages, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of candidatesβ overall suitability for the job.
The official Selection Methodology for HPCL Junior Executive positions (including Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Quality Control, HR, Fire & Safety) involves several stages designed to assess candidates comprehensively:
Computer Based Test (CBT): This is the initial screening stage for all positions.
Group Task: This component is applicable to all positions except for CGD roles, evaluating teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Personal Interview: Candidates who clear the preceding stages will undergo a personal interview to assess their communication skills, personality, and suitability for the role.
Physical Fitness Efficiency Test: This test is mandatory for Junior Executive roles in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Quality Control (QNC), and Fire & Safety (FAC). It assesses the physical capabilities required for these specific roles.
HPCL has released an important update regarding its upcoming recruitment exam scheduled for 3 May 2026. The exam pattern has been revised compared to previous years, as per the official information handout.
For Junior Executive posts, the exam will include three sections: General Aptitude (85 marks), Intellectual Potential Test (45 marks), and Domain Knowledge (85 marks), making a total of 170 questions/marks. The exam will be bilingual (English & Hindi) for aptitude sections, while domain knowledge will be in English only.
The exam will consist of three sections:
Each correct answer in the CBT will be awarded 1 mark.
A negative marking of 0.25 marks (1/4th) will be applied for each incorrect answer, emphasizing accuracy alongside knowledge.
The official syllabus for Junior Executive positions (including Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, Quality Control, HR, Fire & Safety) and other Engineering vacancies is now available. Candidates should note that the syllabus generally aligns with existing academic curriculum and does not present significant major changes, making preparation straightforward for those familiar with their discipline's core subjects.
