NEEPCO JE Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates must fulfil the essential educational qualifications, age limit norms, and local registration requirements as of January 1, 2026.

1. Educational Qualification

• JE (Electrical): Full-time regular Diploma in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering from a recognised State Technical Board or Institute. Minimum 70% aggregate marks are required for UR/EWS candidates, while pass marks are required for SC/ST candidates.

• JE (Mechanical): Full-time regular Diploma in Mechanical or Production Engineering from a recognised State Technical Board or Institute. Minimum 70% aggregate marks are required for UR/EWS candidates, while pass marks are required for ST candidates.

• Distance Learning: Diplomas obtained through distance education modes are not eligible.

• Local Domicile Requirement: Candidates must possess a valid Tripura state domicile and be registered in either the Agartala Employment Exchange or Sepahijala Employment Exchange.

2. Age Limit and Relaxations

• UR / EWS Candidates: Maximum age limit is 30 years as of January 1, 2026.

• SC / ST Candidates: Maximum age limit is 35 years (includes 5 years relaxation).

• Ex-Servicemen: Additional 10 years relaxation in upper age limit over and above category limits.

NEEPCO JE Salary and Compensation Package

Selected candidates will undergo training for a period of 2 years at identified NEEPCO site offices. They will be placed in the regular IDA pay scale of ₹29,300 – 3% – ₹1,19,700.

• Starting Basic Pay: ₹29,300 per month

• Allowances: Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Cafeteria Allowance (35% of basic pay), Location-Based Allowance (10% of basic pay), Provident Fund contribution, and Superannuation scheme benefits.

• Total Monthly CTC: Approximately ₹59,000 per month.

NEEPCO JE Selection Process 2026

The selection of candidates for the Junior Engineer positions is based on two main stages:

1. Written Aptitude Test: A 2-hour objective-type test containing 60 multiple-choice questions. The test covers General English, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning. Each correct answer carries 1 mark, and 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect response. Qualifying marks are 40% for UR/EWS and 30% for SC/ST candidates.

2. Medical Examination: Candidates shortlisted on the basis of written test merit must undergo a medical fitness examination conducted by an authorised Chief Medical Officer / Civil Surgeon before joining.
