RRB JE 2026 Admit Card Update

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has issued a critical clarification regarding the CEN 05/2025 recruitment for Junior Engineer (JE), DMS, and CMA posts. Following widespread confusion among candidates regarding the photograph requirements on the e-call letter (admit card), the RRB released an official notice on February 17, 2026, to streamline the process.

The Conflict: Live Photo vs. Uploaded Photo

In the initial instructions provided on the RRB JE admit cards, candidates were asked to "paste a color photograph same as uploaded at the time of online application." However, since the RRB JE application process utilized a Live Photo Capture system, candidates did not have a physical "uploaded" file to print and paste. This led to significant anxiety among students regarding identity verification at the exam centers.

Official RRB Clarification: Recent Photos Allowed

To resolve this issue, the RRB has updated its guidelines. Candidates are now advised that they do not need to replicate the live photo captured during the registration.

  • Requirement: You must paste a recent passport-size color photograph.

  • Validity: The photograph should not be older than six months.

  • Format: It must be a professional passport-size photo; informal selfies or cropped photos from social media are not permitted.

Key Instructions for Candidates

To ensure a smooth entry into the examination hall, follow these specific instructions regarding your documents:

  1. Uniformity Not Required: It is not mandatory for your clothes or background to match the live photo taken during the application phase.

  2. Paste, Don't Staple: Ensure the photograph is firmly pasted in the designated space on the e-call letter. Do not use staples or pins.

  3. Carry Extras: It is highly recommended to carry two additional copies of the same photograph to the exam center for use on the attendance sheet.

  4. Valid ID Proof: Along with the call letter and photo, carry an original, valid Photo ID (Aadhaar Card with a photograph, Voter ID, PAN Card, Passport, or Driving License).

Impact on Exam Day Procedures

This notice serves as a relief for thousands of aspirants who were worried about disqualification due to "mismatched" photos. The primary goal of the RRB is to ensure that the candidate's current appearance matches the photo on the admit card for biometric and visual verification.

As the exam date approaches, candidates should focus on their final revisions and ensure that all printed documents are clear and legible.

Summary of CEN 05/2025 Important Dates

  • Notice Date: February 17, 2026.

  • Application Code: CEN 05/2025 (JE/DMS/CMA).
