A total of 200 vacancies are available under the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Assam.

Assam VFA Vacancy 2026

Assam VFA Vacancy 2026 has announced 200 posts of Veterinary Field Assistant and allied cadre posts. The vacancies are divided among different categories according to the Post-Based Roster Register. 

 A total of 60 posts are reserved for women. The recruitment also includes 8 posts for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) and 4 posts for Ex-Servicemen.

PwBD reservation includes Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Locomotor Disability, Blindness and Low Vision, Autism and other specified disabilities.

Assam VFA Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates must meet the required Assam VFA Eligibility Criteria 2026 before applying for the recruitment.

Age Limit

• 18 to 40 years

• SC/ST: 5 years

• OBC/MOBC: 3 years

• PwBD: 10 years

• Ex-Servicemen: 2 years

The age will be checked using the HSLC Pass Certificate, HSLC Admit Card, or a certificate issued by a recognised Central or State Board/Council. The document must clearly show the date of birth.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed the full-time HSSLC Class 12 examination in the Science stream. Biology must be one of the subjects studied by the candidate. The qualification must be from a recognised Board, Council, or University.

Domicile Requirement

Candidates must be an Indian Citizen as defined under Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India. 

They must also be a permanent resident of Assam. As proof of domicile, the candidate must upload a valid Permanent Resident Certificate issued in Assam for educational purposes.

Caste Certificate

Candidates seeking reservation under SC, ST, OBC, or MOBC categories must provide a caste certificate issued by the Government of Assam through the competent authority. 

The certificate should clearly mention the candidate's caste, the Act or order under which the caste is recognised, and the village or town where the candidate normally lives.

PwBD Eligibility

Candidates applying under the PwBD category must have a Benchmark Disability of 40% or more. A valid disability certificate issued by the competent authority must be produced.

Assam VFA Selection Process 2026

Assam VFA Selection Process 2026 comprises the OMR-based written exam followed by one year of training. Candidates who will apply for the VFA posts need to apply for the written exam includes 100 questions and 120 minutes.

Assam VFA Exam Pattern 2026

Candidates will be selected through an OMR-based written test. The written test will be based on the Class 12 Science level. OMR-based written test will contain 100 multiple-choice questions for 100 marks. The total time given for the examination will be 120 minutes.

Assam VFA One-Year Training

Selected candidates must undergo one year of training before appointment.

The training will be conducted at the School of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Assam, Ghungoor, Silchar, and its extended campuses under the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department.

Candidates must successfully pass this training. The training is mandatory before appointment to the post.

Assam VFA Salary 2026

Assam VFA Salary 2026 is under Pay Band-2 of Rs. 14,000 to Rs. 70,000, along with Grade Pay of Rs. 6,200. Other allowances will also be provided as allowed by the government from time to time.
