Candidates should meet the UPSC Agriculture Eligibility Criteria 2026 depending on the posts provided in the official notification. 

Horticulture Development Officer:

• Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture Science or Agricultural Science.

• Age Limit: Up to 40 years for ST category (includes standard category relaxations).

Soil Conservation Assistant:

• Educational Qualification: B.Sc. in Agriculture, B.Sc. in Horticulture, B.Sc./M.Sc. in Soil Science, or B.E./B.Tech. in Agricultural Engineering.

• Age Limit: Up to 40 years for the ST category.

Domicile Condition: Candidates must possess a valid Domicile Certificate of the Union Territory of Ladakh.

Age Relaxation: 10 years additional relaxation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

UPSC Agriculture Selection Process 2026

UPSC Agriculture Selection Process 2026 comprises the stages in the recruitment process to evaluate the skills of the candidates. 

• Shortlisting & Interview: Candidates are shortlisted based on their qualifications and experience, followed by a direct Personality Test/Interview.

• Written Recruitment Test (RT): If the number of applicants is exceptionally high, UPSC reserves the right to conduct a preliminary Written Recruitment Test to shortlist candidates for the interview round.

• Probation: Selected candidates will undergo a 2-year probation period before permanent placement.

UPSC Agriculture Salary 2026

UPSC Agriculture Salary 2026 includes the pay scale matrix and allowances added depending on the posts. 

• Pay Scale: Level 8 in the 7th CPC Pay Matrix (₹47,600 – ₹1,51,100).

• Allowances: Entitled to Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), and applicable Union Territory benefits under Central Government norms.
