Candidates are advised to lock their choices within the specified period. As per the notice, choices will be automatically locked at 11:59 PM if they are not locked earlier by the candidate.
The online counselling portal will be available through the official website of the Directorate of Medical Education, Assam. Candidates should regularly visit the official DME Assam website for counselling-related updates, instructions and admission information.
Candidates must satisfy specific requirements laid out by the Directorate of Medical Education, Assam to participate in Round 2:
Already Registered Candidates: Applicants who registered in Round 1 do not need to register again. They can directly log in during the choice-filling window to add fresh options or apply for an institute upgrade.
Fresh Applicants: Candidates who missed Round 1 or became newly eligible must complete online registration and fee payment on the official portal before the deadline.
Resignation Status: Candidates who were allotted seats in Round 1 but submitted formal resignation as per state norms can enter fresh choices.
Document Readiness: Keep your NEET UG 2026 Rank Card, State Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC), Class 10/12 mark sheets, and Category certificates handy for verification.
Completing your web options accurately is critical for getting allocated to your target college. Follow this step-by-step procedure:
Access the Official Portal: Go to the official website of DME Assam at dme.assam.gov.in and navigate to the "NEET UG 2026 State Counselling" section.
Log In to Candidate Dashboard: Enter your Application Number, NEET Roll Number, and Password to open your counselling profile.
Review Available Vacancies: Check the official Round 2 Vacant Seat Matrix released by DME Assam to see remaining state quota MBBS and BDS seats category-wise across colleges.
Select Courses & Colleges: Add your preferred medical and dental institutions. Place your highest-priority college at the top of your preference list.
Reorder & Finalize: Arrange your college list using the shift-up/down controls. Always list realistic choices based on your NEET State Rank while placing upgrade preferences higher.
Save Draft: Periodically click "Save Draft" to preserve your choices before final submission.
Choice locking turns your draft preference list into an active submission for the automated seat allocation algorithm.
Locking Window: Choice locking opens strictly on September 9, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 11:59 PM.
Manual Locking: Candidates must review their order of preference and manually click the "Lock Choices" button using their login credentials and OTP verification.
Auto-Locking Mechanism: If a candidate fails to lock manually before 11:59 PM on September 9, 2026, the system will automatically lock the last saved order of preferences.
Irreversible Action: Once choices are locked—either manually or automatically—no further additions, deletions, or reordering can be performed.
After the choice locking window closes, DME Assam processes seat allocations between September 10 and September 11, 2026.
Seat allotment depends on your NEET UG 2026 All India/State Merit Rank, reservation category (EWS, OBC/MOBC, SC, ST-P, ST-H, PwD, TGL/Ex-TGL), seat availability, and your locked choices.
Download Allotment Letter: Candidates allocated seats must download their provisional allotment letter from the DME portal on September 11, 2026.
Physical Reporting: Report to the principal's office of the allotted medical or dental college on September 17 or September 18, 2026.
Document Verification & Medical Check: Present original certificates along with self-attested photocopies for verification and complete medical fitness formalities.
Fee Payment: Pay the state-prescribed college admission fees to confirm your MBBS or BDS admission.
The processing of seat allotment will take place from September 10 to September 11, 2026. After processing the data, the Assam NEET UG Counselling Round 2 Result 2026 will be displayed along with the modalities of admission on September 11, 2026.

Candidates who are provisionally selected in the second round of counselling will have to report to their respective allotted institutions for admission on September 17 or September 18, 2026, during office hours.
