1. Age Limit (As of 01/07/2026)

  • Minimum Age: 20 Years

  • Maximum Age: 30 Years

  • (Candidates must have been born between 2nd July 1995 and 1st July 2005, inclusive of both dates).

Category-Wise Upper Age Relaxation:

2. Educational Qualification & Specializations

Every candidate must possess a professional or post-graduate degree matching their respective field from a recognized university:

  • IT Officer (Scale I): 4-year Engineering/Technology degree in Computer Science, Computer Applications, Information Technology, Electronics, or an equivalent post-graduate degree.

  • Agricultural Field Officer: A 4-year degree (Graduation) in Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Forestry, or highly allied streams.

  • Law Officer: A Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) and mandatory enrollment as an advocate with the Bar Council.

  • Rajbhasha Adhikari: Post-Graduate Degree in Hindi with English as a subject at the degree level, OR Post-Graduate Degree in Sanskrit with English and Hindi as subjects at graduation.

  • HR / Personnel Officer: Full-time Post Graduate degree or full-time Diploma in Personnel Management, Industrial Relations, HR, HRD, Social Work, or Labour Law.

  • Marketing Officer: Full-time MMS (Marketing), MBA (Marketing), or PGDBA/PGDBM with specialization in Marketing Management.

IBPS SO Exam Pattern 2026

IBPS has revised the structure for both selection tiers in 2026 to ensure precision testing of core operational and professional faculties.

Phase 1: IBPS SO Revised Prelims Exam Pattern

The prelims round is entirely a screening layer (qualifying in nature). The layout differs according to the technical profile of the post:

For IT, Agriculture, HR, and Marketing Officer:

  • Sections: English Language (25 questions), Reasoning (25 questions), Quantitative Aptitude (25 questions), and Professional Knowledge (25 questions).

  • Total Composition: 100 Questions | 125 Maximum Marks.

  • Total Composite Time: 80 Minutes.

For Law Officer and Rajbhasha Adhikari:

  • Sections: English Language, Reasoning Ability, and General Awareness with Special Reference to Banking Industry.

  • Total Composition: 150 Questions | 125 Maximum Marks.

  • Sectional Timing: 40 Minutes per section (Total 120 Minutes).

Phase 2: IBPS SO Revised Mains Exam Pattern

The marks obtained in the Main Online Examination are highly decisive and carry an 80% weightage in the final merit preparation.

For IT, Agriculture, HR, and Marketing Officer:

The exam contains an objective test focused on domain expertise:

  • Subject: Professional Knowledge

  • Structure: 150 Questions | 200 Maximum Marks.

  • Duration: 125 Minutes.

For Law Officer and Rajbhasha Adhikari:

  • Objective Component: Professional Knowledge (Objective) — 50 Questions (45 Minutes).

  • Descriptive Component: Professional Knowledge (Descriptive Type) — 2 Questions (30 Minutes).

Penalty for Wrong Answers: There is a negative marking scheme where 0.25 (1/4th) of the marks assigned to a specific question will be deducted for every incorrect attempt.
