NIACL AO Prelims and Mains

The NIACL AO exam starts with the Preliminary exam, which is a short online test to check basic skills in reasoning, English, and math. Those who pass prelims move to the Mains exam, which is longer and has more detailed questions about insurance, reasoning, math, and general knowledge. Clearing the mains is very important to get to the next stage.

NIACL AO Merit List Criteria

The merit list is made by adding your Mains exam marks and Interview marks in a 75:25 ratio. Candidates who score above the cut-off and have good combined marks are included in the merit list. This list decides who gets the job.

NIACL AO Interview Round

After passing the mains exam, candidates are called for the Interview round. This is where NIACL checks your communication skills, confidence, personality, and knowledge about the insurance industry. The interview is usually done by a panel, and they ask questions about your background, strengths, and how you handle work situations.

NIACL AO Final Selection

The final selection is based on your marks from the Mains exam and the Interview. The Mains exam holds 75% weight, and the Interview holds 25%. Candidates with the highest combined scores get selected for the NIACL AO job. 

NIACL AO Prelims Exam Pattern 2025 

• There are three phases in the preliminary phase. They are Prelims, Mains, and interviews. Candidates need to pass all stages to get selected as Administrative officers (AO).
• The time slot for the exam is 60 minutes.
• Candidates will be charged with a negative marking of 1/4th of the mark for each incorrect answer in the exam.

NIACL AO Mains Exam Pattern 2025

• This exam is divided into two main parts. There are objective and subjective parts in the paper.
• Candidates need to pass both sections to be selected.
• The total time slot for this exam is 2.5 hours, or 150 minutes.
• There are a total of 200 MCQ questions and two essay or letter writing questions.
• Here also, a negative marking of ¼ of the total mark is present.

NIACL AO Descriptive Exam Pattern 2025

• The descriptive exam lasts for about 30 minutes.
• The total number of questions in this test is 30.
• The test is based on English Language and consists of letter writing or essay writing.
• This test will be conducted online.
• The test is conducted in English.
