Securing a rank in CA Foundation requires focused preparation, regular practice and the ability to manage different subjects effectively. Shantanu secured 349 marks overall, including 92 in Accounts, 65 in Law, 97 in Quantitative Aptitude and 95 in Economics. His preparation journey also included PW classes, recorded lectures, study material, previous-year questions and mock tests.

He had expected a good rank while appearing for the examination and said that his preparation was planned with that goal in mind.
Shantanu had taken PW's preparation programme around October or November. However, his Class 12 examinations affected his Foundation preparation during that period. Since he could not attend many live classes, he relied mainly on recordings.
After completing his Class 12 exams towards the end of February, he shifted his focus fully towards CA Foundation preparation.
He explained:
"Toh sab recording mein dekha tha maine. Phir jab exam khatam hue 12th ke February end mein phir maine full CA ko diya tha."
This marked the point when Shantanu began focusing more consistently on his Foundation preparation.
Once he started preparing seriously, Shantanu initially considered studying all subjects together. However, he found that approach difficult to manage and eventually decided to take one subject at a time.
"Toh ek sabjact pehle socha tha sab sabjact ek saath balance karunga par woh hua nahi mujhse. Toh phir maine ek-ek subject le gaya. Toh pehle Maths kiya phir Law phir Accounts phir Economics ko end ke liye rakh dia tha."
He also planned to complete the course and then revise all subjects, along with practising RTPs, MTPs and previous-year questions. Although his original revision plan did not work exactly as intended, he focused on solving questions.
For Quantitative Aptitude, his preparation focused on concepts, theory and high-weightage chapters. Being from a Maths background, he also paid particular attention to theory-based questions.
"Toh focus mera tha concept ko ek baar concepts gaye uske aur maine identify ye kiya ki theory bahut jaruri hai."
He further highlighted the importance of practising previous-year questions and studying the module.
"Previous year paper aao aur question karo. Uske bina nahi hoga. Module bahut jaruri hai. Module se bhi ditto questions aa jaate hain bahut."
PW resources played a practical role in Shantanu's preparation. He used recorded classes when his Class 12 schedule prevented him from attending live sessions. He also followed subject-specific classes, study material and practice resources.
For Logical Reasoning, he used Ash Bhatia Sir's one-shot session from Chanakya 3.0, followed by practice sessions. He found this approach helpful for making LR more manageable.
For Accounts, Shantanu specifically relied on the provided study material and compared it with the module. He explained:
"Toh jo aapka material tha maine us pe rely kiya. Module khol ke dekha maine. Phir ek time ke baad samajh aa gaya aapke isme sab covered hai."
He also followed the suggested approach of marking mistakes and reviewing them before the examination:
"Jaise aapne bola mistakes alag colour se kar mark. Maine woh mistakes mark ki thi. Aakhiri din pe main mistakes dekh ke gaya tha main."
He also mentioned that he worked through questions with the material and checked the solutions when needed. This helped him use the available resources for both practice and revision.
Shantanu's preparation did not follow a perfectly fixed plan. He changed his approach when balancing all subjects became difficult and moved to a subject-wise strategy instead.
His journey highlights a few practical aspects of his preparation:
Studying subjects one at a time when balancing all subjects becomes difficult.
Focusing on concepts and theory, particularly for Quantitative Aptitude.
Practising questions and previous-year papers.
Using the module alongside study material.
Marking mistakes and revisiting them before the examination.
Using recorded classes when live classes could not fit into his schedule.
His preparation also involved significant question practice, even though he could not write as many full papers separately as he had initially planned.
Shantanu's journey to CA Foundation AIR 13 shows how preparation can evolve according to a student's circumstances. His Class 12 examinations affected his initial schedule, but he later focused fully on CA Foundation and adjusted his subject-wise strategy.
His performance of 349 marks, including 97 in Quantitative Aptitude and 95 in Economics, reflects the outcome of focused preparation and extensive question practice. His experience can offer useful preparation lessons to CA Foundation aspirants, especially those managing multiple academic commitments alongside their exam preparation.
