CA Inter Corporate and Other Laws 2026-27 Exam Pattern

The CA Inter Law exam pattern follows a 30:70 structure, with both objective and descriptive questions. The paper carries 100 marks and is conducted for 3 hours. ICAI mock test papers for Paper 2 also follow this structure.

  • Total Marks: 100

  • Exam Duration: 3 hours

  • Part I: Case Scenario-based MCQs carrying 30 marks

  • Part II: Descriptive questions carrying 70 marks

  • Part I: Objective and compulsory

  • Part II: Descriptive questions based on the prescribed syllabus

The 30-mark MCQ section requires you to understand provisions and apply them to given situations. The 70-mark descriptive section requires you to present answers based on the relevant legal provisions and concepts.

CA Inter Corporate and Other Laws 2026-27 Preparation Strategy

For CA Inter Law preparation, consistency is important because the syllabus contains several legal provisions across different laws.

1. Understand the Syllabus Structure

Start by dividing the syllabus into Company Law, LLP Law and Other Laws. Study the chapters module-wise so that you can track which topics have been completed and which still need revision.

2. Study Provisions With Their Application

For Company Law and LLP Law, focus on understanding the provisions instead of memorising them without context. Try to understand how a provision applies to a particular situation, as this can also help with case scenario-based MCQs.

3. Prepare Chapter-wise Notes

Make short notes while studying important provisions, definitions and concepts. Keep them concise so that you can use them during revision instead of going through the complete study material again.

4. Practise Case Scenario-based MCQs

Since 30 marks are assigned to case scenario-based MCQs, include regular MCQ practice in your preparation. Focus on understanding the facts given in each situation before selecting the answer.

5. Practise Descriptive Answers

The descriptive section carries 70 marks, so practise writing answers in a clear and structured manner. Use the relevant provision or concept and explain its application according to the question.

6. Revise Other Laws Regularly

Give regular revision time to the General Clauses Act, Interpretation of Statutes and FEMA. Short and frequent revision sessions can help you retain important concepts and provisions.

7. Use the Applicable ICAI Study Material

Prepare according to the study material applicable to your examination attempt. For the new scheme, the prescribed Paper 2 study material is applicable from the May 2027 examination onwards.

Why CA Inter Corporate and Other Laws 2026-27 Requires Consistent Practice

CA Inter Corporate and Other Laws combines conceptual understanding with application-based questions. Company Law and LLP Law form a substantial portion of the syllabus, while Other Laws covers the General Clauses Act, Interpretation of Statutes and FEMA.

The 30-mark MCQ section makes application of provisions important, while the 70-mark descriptive section requires you to explain the relevant concepts clearly. Regular practice of both question types can help you become familiar with the structure of the examination.
